Re: Dave Clark Five cover
Thank you so much for that. I was originally thinking that I would get my older daughter to sing the lead and I would do the harmony as the harmony is a little awkward. I was impressed that she was able to learn it and the 12 or so chords. When I started recording the lead with my 10 year old, she s...

Dave Clark Five cover
I recorded this with my two oldest daughters. The younger, 10, did the lead vocal and the older, 14, the harmony. The older daughter also played the organ part. Kind of a tricky one to teach them as there is 12 chords I think with a couple of augmented fifths and a double augmented fifth or whatever...

Re: Manjaro?
I really like Manjaro. It's super easy to install compared to Arch. You would just have to learn to install things with pacman instead of apt. I think configuring it for audio is quite similar to Ubuntu.

Re: ir lv2 plugin
I guess my idea of building the factorial version on Arch is a problem because you have to downgrade zita-convolver which causes Ardour to not start.

Re: ir lv2 plugin
I wasn't aware of those convolution plugins. Thank you. I haven't used IR in quite a while but I do have some older projects that I used it in.

Re: ir lv2 plugin
Maybe I should have looked into this more. I see that you can still get the source for the one with the factorial id. Maybe I will have to keep the KX version on my Mint computers and build the factorial version on my Arch computer.

ir lv2 plugin
I came across an issue this summer that the unique id of the ir plugin had been changed from the factorial url to the tomszilagyi url. I updated my Ardour projects so that they would be able to find the plugin. Now I sometimes load my projects on my wife's computer that has Mint 18.1 with the Kx rep...

Re: ir plugin in ardour
Strange. It is the same version. I also tried booting a different kernel. I don't think there is a blacklist in Ardour for lv2.

ir plugin in ardour
In Arch Linux, Ardour will not load the ir plugin. Says it can't be found. In the same project in Manjaro, the plugin loads. In both cases it is installed in /usr/lib/lv2

You most likely just need to open alsamixer in a terminal and unmute your main outputs.

Re: Arch based audio distro
I really just mean that it can be a nightmare to update.(gentoo) The other day it said my profile was deprecated. After I switched to an updated profile and tried to update, it became an impossible situation to resolve ( a blocks b which blocks c which blocks a etc). I look at it like a game or a pu...

Re: Arch based audio distro
Regarding the fact that Arch is "a pain in the ass" to install.... any of you ever tried to maintain a Gentoo audio system. Personally I really only ever use Gentoo when I want to frustrate myself and get in a cranky mood. I actually just gave up on my Gentoo partition yesterday and delete...
