Re: Input & Output busses, and routing between busses - Qtractor

in a word, no, but...

though, you may workaround it externally with jack and, quite probably loose one period to latency (when it works:)) (*)

cheers

(*) direct loopbacks, eg. qtractor outs -> qtractor ins, doesn't work in all cases, kinda "it depends" ;)

Re: Understanding MIDI and soft-synths in Qtractor

@rncbc: Thanks for clearing that up. Again, I learned something today. Didn't know VST's need a 'pass-through' just like Midi (in - out - through). I take it that most - if not all - plugin effects (delay, flanger, etc.) have a 'pass through' so one can chain effects? by design and definition, audi...

Re: Understanding MIDI and soft-synths in Qtractor

Guess which one I hear (or both?) when I press a key? Spoiler alert: it's the 'ARP 2600' only. Same when I select "None" as Instrument. Why is this? you're chaining two MIDI synth plugins in the same column; unless the second one has pass-through audio in to out ports the output of the fi...

Re: Understanding MIDI and soft-synths in Qtractor

hi, (shall answer qtractor related questions only:) When adding a soft-synth plugin in Qtractor, there are 2 different places - the "plugins" tab where you "add" the plugin, and then the drop-down where you select an "instrument". What is the difference between these? W...

Re: Qtractor 0.9.34: first note in clips vanished

hi, care to elaborate or give some sure steps to reproduce the issue you just found ? it might be very and/extremely specific to some settings (eg. tempo/bpm, time-sig, snap-to-beat, etc.) and to any prior clip-edit operations you take, like cut, move, resize, whatever applying to the precise first ...

Re: Pipewire, Jack Applications & Low-Latency tuning for soundcards

let me chime in this thread again ... also when comparing to jack, and due to its reliance on soft-timers and not on hard-irqs, pipewire used to perform quite bad on preempt_rt patched kernels... not anymore as it seems, kernel 6.2-rt is performing here quite nicely nowadays--been noticing this ever...

Re: Any problems with Qtractor recently?

Maybe the plugin concept is a myth - in the end, you need the dependencies...putting the user to the pipewire group, havent dont that yet. I am in the realtime and the audoi group....Concerning groups, I thought with systemd you dont need to be in any group anymore?mmm oh no no no, plugins have not...

Re: Any problems with Qtractor recently?

try it step by step... add track, add one plugin and its payload, and test run it...

if it doesn't abort, save, reload, rinse and repeat: if it doesn't abort already then try another plugin... good luck ;)

ps. maybe it's a good idea having the auto-save option turned on?
