Re: Axiom (EP)

Great job, it sounds awesome... I've been lately listening to a lot of Deep Purple and lots of sections certainly brought me those vibes; great guitar and keyboard work. (It also reminded me of Uriah Heep). My favourite tracks are perhaps "Roots" and "Red and Blue". For "Arm...

Re: Coconut Street: an urban nightscape

Great atmosphere, mysterious... The contrast between the keys and the punch of the drums sounds superb. To me it felt like something for the soundtrack of a movie, maybe a futuristic one, or a slasher... Great job...

Re: Ironic Twist - "Doom Level" (Videogame music)

I'm happy to see that I'm not alone in my archaic gaming habits... I still remember the first time I jumped out of the chair because a monster was getting too close... Doom really marked a before and after; and when it seemed it couldn't get any better, they opened it to community and people could c...

Re: Ironic Twist - "Doom Level" (Videogame music)

Glad to hear it. I still play Doom almost daily, I'm a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to videogames... :)

Re: Ironic Twist - "Doom Level" (Videogame music)

Thank you for listening, I'm happy that you found that I captured the vibe of the game (at least I'm hoping that's what you mean by "you hear Doom in it", and not only because of the samples of the game I inserted... ) The song has now a video, with excellent pixel art by a fan. The ...

Ironic Twist - "Doom Level" (Videogame music)

https://alonetone.com/palmiro/tracks/doom-level Here is a piece in which I tried to write a song following the conventions for a hypothetical level of my favourite game, Doom 2. Although I think that the real Midi songs of the game use soundfonts, and I stuck to my usual Yoshimi/Zynfusion. Software...

Re: On Drumgizmo velocities

> Are you referring to this Drumgizmo version introducing the Sample Normalization: https://drumgizmo.org/wiki/doku.php?id=changelog:drumgizmo-0.9.18 ? Yes, that's what I was thinking of. It seems I was wrong about its use; making my own kits is something out of my scope or interests, I only use th...

Re: On Drumgizmo velocities

+1 from my own experience that there's something strange? non standard? about velocities in Drumgizmo. DG is a beast, I love it, but systematically my biggest challenge is getting enough contrast between light and strong blows. (I program my drums, don't play). Generally, to be able to make a series...

Thank you for taking the time to comment. Two points define a line, so it seems there's consensus that the track is muddy. Thank you for the valuable feedback...

Re: Ironic Twist - "Would It Kill You" (Pop / Latin)

I wasn't keen on the first part, but liked the more laid-back remainder. Thank you for being such a good sport, and giving a chance to the rest of the song although the first part wasn't to your liking. A lot of people would have just gone "neeeext!..." I'm sorry if my reports have caused...

Re: Ironic Twist - "Would It Kill You" (Pop / Latin)

I think it's an interesting sound but with a different mastering, the track would work much better. Thank you for taking the time to check the tune. I guess the main problem must be that I wanted to add some saturation and, unable to add a plugin fit or that I could understand, I settled with a dis...

Ironic Twist - "Would It Kill You" (Pop / Latin)

Happy year to all, here is a new song of my pop synthy project, I hope you like it. https://alonetone.com/palmiro/tracks/would-it-kill-you Drums via Drumgizmo. Instruments were mainly done with Yoshimi as LV2 in Reaper, which is a bit of a mess because it spawns windows like crazy and has a tendency...

Ironic Twist - "I Am A Man" (pop rock)

I have been postponing writing new material because I didn't have an electric guitar, and I was totally repelled by using synths. Finally, I couldn't help myself, I had to write, so I've conceived this new project, Ironic Twist, for all my synthy endeavors. This song is my first attempt. For some re...

Re: Black Sheep Riot, "Bigfoot" (Instrumental Rock)

Hey, thank you for listening! The drums are the power of Drumgizmo... I always like to say that with Drumgizmo you have "high school band level assured"... You just play the midi with the default parameters, and it already sounds like something recorded in a rehearsal space... I don't do v...
