Re: KXStudio 12.04 release plans

In addition to kwin, jackdbus, and a2jmidi bridge totaling up to 0.9% of CPU resources, PulseAudio uses more than 3.5%, which can total up to 5%. This is with a 10 ms latency. My CPU is AMD A6-3400 Quad Core APU (Accelerated Processing Unit). If I recall, the max CPU speed is 1.4GHz. I could use som...

Re: KXStudio 12.04 release plans

So why isn't meta-graphics going to be installed if I'm installing meta-all? Beats me. It just does not make any sense. Heh heh.

Re: For those supporting OpenOctave...

Does this mean that we can have 5.1 surround sound mixing?

By the way, this is what open source, collaboration, and contribution is all about. Developers and users can all win if we can all make a difference and help improve the quality of code. :)

Re: For those supporting OpenOctave...

Could you guys drop the accusations toward Chris and move in? I've started to lose interest and forget about my thread.

Thanks.

Re: For those supporting OpenOctave...

Guys, would you please quit with all the bashing in my thread and give Chris a slack already? I am poor already and I really want to get into making music with OpenOctave MIDI in Linux and I want them to succeed. I'm doing all I can to support OpemOctave MIDI for Linux. If Chris does not want to sup...

Re: For those supporting OpenOctave...

Well, I'm happy to see that the campaign is back up with more funds coming in; consequently, it's sad to see the perks like M-Audio Oxygen 49 and Behringer BCR2000 go away.:(

For those supporting OpenOctave...

The campaign has been suspended due to confusion and miscommunication:

Re: Manage your gigs through your phone

Hmm... That $50,000 can be quite extreme for such a project. In my opinion, I don't see how this can be very useful as an independent musician.

Pardon my negative comment, but best of luck to you. :)

Re: KXStudio 12.04 release plans

With jackdbus and a2j MIDI Bridge started without PulseAudio, KDE/KWin, KDE/OpenBox, OpenBox, Razor-QT/KWin, and Razor-QT/OpenBox all gave me the average CPU usage of 0.75% in Cadence, so I don't see why you'd want to choose Razor-QT over KDE for maximum performance and lightness. Or is something wr...

Re: KXStudio 12.04 release plans

I don't believe in votes, either. Besides, it's only a matter of preference. For me, I prefer KDE and even if it takes up a lot of resources, if I disable PulseAudio (which takes up 2.5%+ of CPU resources plus 0.5% for a2j bridge, and some other 0.25% to 0.4% for other resources, that totals up to m...

Re: KXStudio 12.04 release plans

Claudia and Klaudia both pronounced the same thing, so I think it makes sense to change Klaudia to Claudia-Launcher, but then I've never used it. Although I'm poor and I may not be able to afford a luxury to donate to the KXStudio project, I did donate my money to the OpenOctave project in order to ...

Re: kxstudio and linux mint - what???

Not only the repositories, KXStudio comes with Cadence, Carla, Catia, and anything you need to get you going. When you install kxstudio-desktop-kde or kxstudio-desktop-xfce4, along with kxstudio-meta-all, KxStudio will launchh a welcome wizard so you can have it automatically configure your desktop ...

Re: Do I really need an RT(Real Time) kernel

You can get Linux kernel 3.2 by getting a PPA from here: http://freshtutorial.com/upgrade-to-lin ... 11-10-ppa/

I don't recommend compiling a kernel unless you know what you're doing.

Re: Do I really need an RT(Real Time) kernel

KXStudio does not use a low-latency kernel by default. See Help : Ubuntu : Upgrade , section "Step 5 - Install a Kernel (Optional)." I've compiled my own custom kernel and I'm running Linux 3.2.11 with a realtime patch. Otherwise, Cadence (part of KXStudio) will mark the generic kernel wit...

Re: We need more "Tags" to get seekers here!

I'd like to let you know that the "latest" BSD kernel may not be compatible with all the latest hardware. Also, are you using a TonePort (legacy) or POD? According to this website the KB37 does not have the MIDI IN/OUT ports but only USB for MIDI connection. This is useful if you want to u...
