Re: how to use an audio interface with wine and connect studio monitors

I use the Behringer UMC1820, but the UMC404HD and UMC204HD are equally compatible with ALSA if you don't need as many inputs or outputs. Audio interfaces do not interact with WINE. If it is compatible with ALSA, which any "USB 2.0 Class Compliant" interface should be, then it will work on ...

Re: AV Linux MX Edition Release Candidate Uploaded!

I don't think I missed anything. You initially linked to a project whose program is not released yet. I noted the command line utility is available, and my point was that unless a person knows what it is and how to use it, it isn't a tool the average user will know how to test out or even be aware i...

Re: AV Linux MX Edition Release Candidate Uploaded!

It looks like a project with a lot of potential, but it doesn't appear finished yet. The program that handles all of the setup has not been released, and given it will cost money to use it when it is released, it probably isn't a good candidate for the ISO. The command line utility is open source, b...

Re: Best Linux Compatibility for small audio interface

The Behringer U-PHORIA UMC204HD is fully compatible with Linux, no limitations, and has MIDI ports. I have the UMC1820 and am pleased with it.

Re: Why two rtirq entries?

"lsusb -t" would confirm if they are the same bus or not. The rtirq status output doesnt provide that level of detail, but I would assume that is why there are two entries. The status output above looks the same as mine when I use "usb" in the name list, but using "usb2"...

Re: Why two rtirq entries?

Does your computer have two USB buses, and did you put "usb" in the name list for the rtirq config file? If so, it could be pushing both buses to the top of the list, prioritizing the one on the lower numbered interrupt line. My interface is on bus 2 (confirmed with 'lsusb -t' and named &q...

Re: Your Thoughts on EQs

+1 for Harrison's LV2 plugins. The XT-EQ and XT-ME plugins take care of anything the built-in EQ in Mixbus 32C cannot.

I would also trust the x42-EQ plugin, but since I paid for the Harrison stuff, I have learned to use them.

Re: AV Linux moving to MX Linux

I really appreciate the part of your manual that describes the adjustments you made to stock Debian. I know it is time consuming, but if you could take notes of what you do to configure MXLinux during your work on it, I think it could useful and educational for others.

Re: Debugging Xruns

Is the xrun situation the same no matter what USB port you use? If so, WiFi is a frequent culprit if the module shares the same IRQ as the USB bus of your ports. If you disable WiFi, do the xruns decrease?

Re: Behringer UMC202HD and USB 3

I know this is a little late coming, but I have a UMC1820 hooked into the lone USB 3.0 port on my laptop, and it works fine. It actually seems to perform better on it than the 2.0 ports, likely because it is on its own hub when using the 3.0 port.

Re: Compatibility of USB audio sound card BOSS ME-80

The Boss ME-80 is not a USB class compliant device. It requires a proprietary driver to run on MacOS. Has someone written a driver for it and incorporated it into ALSA (I didn't see it in their list)? If not, wouldn't that have to be done before any additional configuration could be fruitful?

Re: Anyone using an Audient iD interface?

Unless someone writes a mixer application for Linux that can adjust the iD14's internal routing settings like the Windows and Mac software, you are probably out of luck adjusting those to anything other than their defaults. A VM won't work. I wouldn't hold your breath that it will ever happen, but t...

Re: Should I buy an audio interface?

The UMC22 will work on Linux, but I don't think that mic will hook up to it properly. That mic appears specially designed for use with cameras only. I read a review of it online where someone else complained that it generates a lot of background noise. You may be best off returning it and getting th...
