Re: restore links to wiki, planet, linuxaudio.org

Regarding the wiki, it is getting a lot of spam at the moment. I've been deleting what I find, but it's a pain. Who has admin rights? Can you ban these users and automatically cancel their edits? I've given up on deleting the spam as I can't keep up and this still leaves it in the history. We need ...

Re: Raspberry Pi and music production

Here's a Pi running Pure Data being used for guitar effects. He's got a cool Arduino-based control system

Welcome. We're always interested to know what hardware and software people use. And of course we'd like to hear any music you have on-line.

Re: The Open Source Musician Podcast is back!!!

Very happy to have new shows to listen to. I think Spencer would appreciate contributions of content. I'd love to hear reviews and demos of things like effects and synths. It would also be interesting to hear someone talk through how they put a track together with open source tools. I'll try and thi...

Sounds good.

I'm interested in why you record at 48kHz if the final version will be 44.1.

Re: new usb interface

I've heard that the new Focusrites work on Linux. There's some links from

If you only need a couple of inputs then there are lots of options.

Re: danboid FINALLY tries KXstudio!!!

My last attempt at asking this question here: Catia vs Catarina vs gladish vs ???? Catarina was just a test? What is best to use? Please make this clearer on http://kxstudio.sourceforge.net/KXStudio:Applications please! I also have issues with knowing what apps I should be using. I can understand t...

Zoom G3X

I just got one of these guitar multi-effects. The patch editor works in Wine. I've not used it as an interface much yet, but it was detected. I'll report back on that, but I may be plugging it into my Delta for general recording so I can record other sources at the same time. What would be really ne...

Re: Scarlett 18i20

Well, I've asked Focusrite Technical Support about running it on Linux and here is what they said: "The Scarlett 18i20 is a class compliant device and as such it should work under Linux but this is not something that we would test or support." It's a shame they are not even interested in ...

Re: Old Lady Composer's First Adventures in Linux! Hi!

Welcome Liz!

So are you mainly using the PC to write scores? It's not something I've played with, but my kids are studying music and may well have a use for it. How does MuseScore compare with the closed source options?

Re: My personal KXStudio 12.04.1 experience PART 1

Thanks to wolftune for writing up this stuff. It's giving me more of an insight into the system. I went for the XFCE option and it's okay, but I'm not a big fan of the dark theme. I had to tweak it to make window title bars more visible, but I'm no expert on editing themes and not sure of all the op...

Re: My personal KXStudio 12.04.1 experience PART 2

Interesting that Fluidsynth might be causing issues as I'd noticed a fair few xruns when using it. I've not done many other projects in KX recently, so didn't have any other scenarios to compare. The other issue I noticed was that some of the sounds in the soundfont I was using (from the repos, need...
