Re: normal Linux kernels with threadirqs vs RT patchset
Update: I just gave a try at the stock Arch kernel (4.1.6 at the time of writing) with threadirqs + rtirq, and it's perfectly capable of reaching low latencies (64*3 period @96K with a F. Scarlett 2i2). Still got some xruns, but I was quite surprised... So I'd say the difference between stock and RT...

Re: seeking HW advice for new SW project
Agree, you should use 1 of the Line outs (Mono) on the back of the unit, not the headphones out.

Re: normal Linux kernels with threadirqs vs RT patchset
rt-kernel here as well. Sticking at the moment with 3.18-RT on Arch which is considered stable/LTS, but the difference is indeed not as dramatic as it used to be.
I plan to do another comparison with 4.1 (I found also that 4.0, rt or vanilla was more pain than gain).

Did you try Milkytracker?

Description says "editing .MOD files" - not sure how this works in practice though...

Hi,
I didn't get the full grasp of what you're doing, but it looks like you're wiping out the log with the last line.

Re: USB interface latency
@Crocoduck: that upgrade should indeed be welcome. the model model you're eying seems to have a better than average designed cooling system, as per the review from those guys: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Lenovo-IdeaPad-U430-Touch-Ultrabook.100623.0.html Their reviews are usually quite thorou...

Re: Guitar Re-Amping with Audio Interface (Scarlett 2i2, Jam
Hi joei666, While I can't provide a definitive answer to either of your questions, I suspect none of those will work on Linux. So you'll probably save yourself some hassle by reviewing your signal chain and going as much as possible with a class compliant USB interface and native Linux applications....

Re: USB interface latency
Actually it's quite interesting that you get better latency with the Mobile-Pre which is a USB1 interface. This really points to to the USB controller, cable or possibly the driver... Going back to Paul question: since he's playing from a midi keyboard -> Computer -> 2i2, we should be able to deduct...

Re: USB interface latency
Ok, I finally ran a proper latency test on the 2i2 with a mono patch cable (tested both with with jack_delay and jack_iodelay) - config cpu: core i5 3317u (ivy bridge) with turbo boost disabled in the BIOS and locked at max frequency with "cpupower frequency-set -g performance" Kernel: sto...

Re: Midi patchbay with preset function?
+1 for qjackctl's patch bay. It can store audio or midi connections as presets and switch between them easily. Adding one tip from the Arch wiki that I found handy: "You can automate starting of a2jmidid by adding to QjackCtl Setup > Options > Execute script after Startup: /usr/bin/a2jmidid -e ...

That's for the Dj Console Mk1 - different device. The 2 mappings for the RMX are midi only: https://github.com/mixxxdj/mixxx/blob/1.11/mixxx/res/controllers/Hercules%20DJ%20Console%20RMX.midi.xml https://github.com/mixxxdj/mixxx/blob/1.11/mixxx/res/controllers/Hercules%20DJ%20Console%20RMX%20Advance...

Re: Mixxx DJ Hardware Guide: list of sound cards & controlle
Hi Be. Nice that you tackle the long overdue Mixxx controller documentation update. I just had a look and have some comments regarding the Hercules DJ Console RMX (1st gen): This one deserves a warning - the wiki shouldn't give the wrong assumption that it works out of the box with HID or MIDI on Li...
