Re: Pad Sounds (request)
Thanks for the heads-up AnthonyCFox, still can't get that Mininova to load even in Sforzando Standalone though, maybe I got a bad download.. I would guess so. Don't be offended, but you are clicking on the .sfz files, correct? There are other program files in those libraries that only work in the Z...

Re: Pad Sounds (request)
Unfortunately the 'zampler.de' MiniNova banks don't work in the rgc plugin however they do work in Qsampler/Linuxsampler standalone. They work well in Sforzando http://www.plogue.com/products/sforzando/ and I use that regularly in wine. I never had much luck with the rgc sampler, though it would in...

Re: Pad Sounds (request)
You could get the Zampler libraries http://www.zampler.de/ they are sfz synth samples. The MiniNova is the most likely, IMO. Don't bother with the ones that say "Bassstation II" as they don't contain sfz's and the one that says "Commodore 64" is just what it says. Actually, if th...

Re: [SOLVED] DSP output script
Actually, solving stuff like this is all part of the fun of the Unix/Linux world. It can even get addictive! I wish that I could have come up with more of the solution on my own but I'm very grateful for stackexchange. I'm glad I did this though, this is something that should exist. I know I'm not ...

Re: DSP output script
I ended up back on stackexchange again for more lessons on buffering. Actually, 90% of this was done for me, I didn't know anything about buffers, but I did figure out the sed stuff on my own. :P stdbuf -oL jack_cpu_load | grep --line-buffered "jack DSP load" | stdbuf -oL cut -d' ' -f4 | s...

Re: DSP output script
Thanks for trying Thad. I got some help from stackexchange and it turns out to be a buffering issue. Between that and some hammering away on google; and trial and error; I came up with this: stdbuf -i0 -o0 -e0 jack_cpu_load | sed -n 's/[A-Za-z]*//g;s/ //g;s/.\{4\}$//;9,$p' It's the output I'm lookin...

Re: DSP output script
Okay, I've been doing some more research on this. In the shell, when I pipe jack_cpu_load through sed, or cut, no matter what options I use it stops printing just before the lines I want to see. jack_cpu_load | sed -n 8p will print Jack: JackClient::kActivateClient name = jack_cpu_load ref = 4 The v...

Re: The hard Linux audio experience
I was hoping for ardour 3.x because it its ability to combine midi with wave in an output (or so I believe). If that is not the case then I will need to find something that will facilitate that function. I am pretty sure that ardour 2.x doesn't have that capability. When I loaded the kxstudio packa...

Re: The hard Linux audio experience
Well, if you want to run KxStudio you should probably take your issues to the sub-forum dedicated to that distro http://www.linuxmusicians.com/viewforum.php?f=47 Especially, if you want to cherry-pick what applications to install instead of using the meta-all package. I can set up my own system that...

Re: The hard Linux audio experience
The point the kxstudio repos is that you can use it in whatever system you have installed (any debian based distro). You shouldn't be forced to use 1 or 2 DEs just because someone else does it. Use whatever you prefer and like instead. That's cool. If you want to help him, knock yourself out. Or, y...

Re: The hard Linux audio experience
Hi, While I can't imagine Xubuntu+KX not working out, I would be pretty dumb to not mention AV Linux 6.0.2: XFCE 4.10, Ardour3 3.5.143, JACK1 with JACK MIDI and Alsa Loopback pre-configured and a whole pile of stuff you haven't thought of yet all on the LiveDVD ready to use. You might even find run...

Re: Comparing kernels (Debian)
My goal is to make music and my ears are my number one tool. My system has it's limitations, but they don't stop or even slow me down much in doing that and so I'm not worried about it.
I will try the Siduction kernel eventually, but just out of idle curiosity.

[SOLVED] DSP output script
I'd like to have the dsp always visible, like I do with cpu load. Preferably something I can plug into Conky, so I can see it in my i3 status bar. I tried ${execp jack_cpu_load} but in Conky that just shows Jack: JackClient::SetupDriverSync driver sem in flush mode and nothing else. From here http:/...
