Re: Arturia Midi Driver - has anybody got it working in WINE? (subject amended)

I just went back and read the first post. You have the 5 pin midi out on that keyboard. It will definitely work on Linux. You need to buy a $15 class compliant USB to midi cable, and use that to connect to the keyboard. Getting it to work isn't the issue, it's configuring the hardware that can't be...

Re: Arturia Midi Driver - has anybody got it working in WINE? (subject amended)

Well, I've finally given up. Arturia's been good about responding to my queries; I just don't like what they respond WITH ("We don't support linux and have no interest in supporting linux"). And no combination WINE tweakery and trickery can coerce MIDI Control Center into talking t...

Thank you all for the explanations of the "invisible" pixel/link. And thanks for the AI bot warning. I'm getting old: I need this sort of info on how the internet changes. :)

Re: I think it's that time of the year again

What are the tricks to identifying a bot? I haven’t noticed any here—although others have pointed them out. The only obvious bots I have recognized in the past were those annoying DiscoDSP support comments that were used on KVRAudio. A first-time poster replying to what may be a months or years old...

Re: Professional Linux Audio Users, How Did You Do It?

[...] I would say most reliable plugins are old free windows plugins (32 or 64 bit) which are plain dll without installer. They identify themselves same, and they continue to work. Funny you should mention that. I've got some of those antique VST 2.4 Windows plugins too (i.e. plain dll's). Most of ...

Re: Professional Linux Audio Users, How Did You Do It?

Concerning Reaper freezing up: I take it that you use the Linux native version of it, not Reaper via Wine. Maybe they can offer support via the Reaper forum (it is paid software so you may expect some form of support from 'm). Concerning the use of software from one operating system (Windows) in ano...

Which game controller?

Re: Pitch Bend Wheel fake 14 bit resolution

The problem is largely physical. Consider the actual track length of an average rotary control against the contact area of the wiper, then add in irregularities in the surface plus background noise - added to micro-movements caused, or amplified by vibration of the control wheel. The 'cheap' way to...

Re: Pitch Bend Wheel fake 14 bit resolution

It doesn't matter much to me, but I found out that while pitch bend messages "should be" 14 bits instead of the usual 7 bits for CC, resulting in 16.384 discrete values, my midi keyboard's pitch wheel sends those values with increments of 128, so the actual resolution of the pitch bend wh...

Re: Getting a good (guitar) sound across multiple listening devices. Advice?

I do find everything seems to sound great on the monitor speakers - which is great while I'm listening to it but kind of a problem when it comes to generalizing to other speakers, headphones, etc. Also I don't live alone and usually work in the middle of the night, so speakers aren't always an opti...

Curious to see what's the problem I tried to install the demo version of GForce Software's M-Tron Pro IV. That won't even respond to clicking on the button 'Run Demo' to run the demo ha ha. Oh well...

Spectre Sound Studio's keeps on posting video's to demonstrate that the amp doesn't make the difference: the speaker in your cabinet does. As does the placement of the mic (as you would expect). A recent one:

You have a rather old Hydrogen version. Current version is 1.3.0 alpha or 1.2.3 stable.

I know. But I never use Hydrogen. I installed it just now for the example. :)
