Re: Giving Jack runtime priority on hybrid system with KXStudio.
Many thanks for the info from both of you. I was not in the audio group, and my setup has no config file "99-audio.conf", but there is an "audio.conf file that reads: @audio - rtprio 95 @audio - memlock unlimited #@audio - nice -19 Does that look OK? Not sure what the difference is be...

(Solved) Giving Jack runtime priority on hybrid system with KXStudio.
I am at this time running a hybrid system - PeppermintOS/KXStudio. The two seem to play well together, but unlike when adding a low-latency kernel and the Ubuntu Studio repos, when I did the same with KXStudio, I never got a system prompt about giving Jack runtime priority or checking to see if my u...

LMMS wav to midi to MuseScore?
I have exported the drum track from my LMMS project, but for some reason LMMS didn't seem capable of exporting it as a .mid file. So now, I am sitting here with a .wav file and wondering how I can convert it to .mid so I can import it into MuseScore, to work on the scoring of the drums. Any ideas? I...

Re: Migrating from Musescore & LMMS to Rosegarden - confused.
I'm afraid I don't know hexter at all (really not a plugin guy). Might I suggest you take a wander over to Rosegarden-user@lists.sourceforge.net They re a very helpful bunch, and i suspect your problems are down to some simple (but not obvious) oversight. I'm pretty much shutting down now - getting...

Re: Migrating from Musescore & LMMS to Rosegarden - confused.
1st import midi file. 2nd merge midi file. This will get your existing files in. To see the keyboard Manage Midi Devices and select it from the inputs. You may need to save and reload the Rosegarden file. Thanks. Done and done. 1) The hexter plugin complains at Rosegarden startup: "hexter:erro...

Re: Migrating from Musescore & LMMS to Rosegarden - confused.
Understood and agree. However, my fundamental quest with this thread is still how to get my MIDI keyboard to work with Rosegarden as with LMMS. The other discussion is peripheral and can easily be taken over to the other forum area if necessary.

Re: Migrating from Musescore & LMMS to Rosegarden - confused.
For some reason, the KXstudio team insist that users download .deb files that include the key, repo address, etc. Jessie uses libglibmm-2.4-1c2a:amd64, but the KXstudio repo packages need an older version (libglibmm-2.4-1v5).sysrqer wrote:Just follow the instructions on the kxstudio website under Repositories.

Re: Migrating from Musescore & LMMS to Rosegarden - confused.
I have no idea. Most packages I have from KX are not in Debian repo. I use Debian Testing + KX repo. Oh, I just installed BunsenLabs (Jessie) to test it out and ran into a problem with libglibmm-2.4-1c2a:amd64 installed and the KXstudio repo packages needing an older version (libglibmm-2.4-1c2a:amd...

Re: Migrating from Musescore & LMMS to Rosegarden - confused.
The surest way to sort it out is to start over with a clean install of standard Ubuntu / Mint / Debian and to then add the KXStudio overlay and pull audio packages from there instead of using whatever Ubuntu Studio is providing. Are KXStudio's packages up to date with the more recent versions of Ub...

Re: Migrating from Musescore & LMMS to Rosegarden - confused.
OK, thanks for that. I have just implemented the KXStudio repo so that I can grab LinuxSampler, but I am worried about mixing Ubuntu and Ubuntu Studio packages with KXStudio how do you sort that out?

Re: Migrating from Musescore & LMMS to Rosegarden - confused.
I suggest not loading synths directly to RG but to use ALSA MIDI in, say, QJackCtl to link a standalone synths. I use Rosegarden with LinuxSampler this way. Interesting for a number of reasons. I can install the QSampler front end, but LinuxSampler isn't in the Ubuntu 16.10 repos as far as I can se...

Re: Migrating from Musescore & LMMS to Rosegarden - confused.
I would like to point out that there has been a *lot* of work done on Rosegarden over the last couple of years. It totally matches my workflow and I use it extensively. I can't remember the last time I hit a bug. I think in general, I will be happy for using Rosegarden. A bug (or whatever I ran int...

Re: Migrating from Musescore & LMMS to Rosegarden - confused.
Fantastic :-) Thanks. Just what I was looking for. The Rosegarden I am using to experiment (1:16.06-1) on an Ubuntu MATE 16.10 install seems to be a bit buggy when it comes to FluidSynth. It crashed twice and I had to manually delete lock files twice when trying to get both tracks to use FluidSynth ...

Re: Minimal Ubuntu Studio 17.04 style install.
Cool. That is sort of what I did. I installed Musescore, LMMS, Frescobaldi and Rosegarden, plus a few synths, soundfonts and dssi plug-ins (including dependencies). That brings in a fair amount, but still much smaller than an Ubuntu Studio install. I will take a look at the ArchBang tutorial, TLP an...
