Re: Can tube DSP substitute for tube amps?

I'm pretty sure that people whose survival depends on selling or marketing tube amps will hate me for saying this. They don't care about truths. They just care about their own survival. That's not necessarily the case. They just require customers that disagree with you. There are still plenty of pe...

Re: Are all Creative-Labs SB cards Linux compatible now?

The Focusrite/Linux story got a lot better when @geoffrey implemented drivers that support the more advanced features. Those drivers are now included in official kernel releases.

Re: Troubleshooting Ardour using Jack

Trying to use two different sound devices is a recipe for madness. There are some ways to do it, but you're probably better off using a single audio device.

Re: Hello from Garmisch-Partenkirchen/Germany

Guten tag! Two of my great-great-grandparents immigrated to the United States from Germany, so I like to say that I'm 1/8 German. Some day I would like to travel there.

I'll give another thumbs-up for m-audio midi controllers. I've used two different models and had no trouble with either of them.

Some discussions here.

That discussion is ancient history, almost all of the links are dead.

I really wish that there was a copyright expiration on these abandonware samples, and we could legally redistribute them.

Re: The volume of multisamples

The short answer is that if you add this line, the velocity will not influence volume at all:

Code: Select all

amp_veltrack=0

For the long answer, read this document:

Do not use an exotic distro that has been made by somebody in his bedroom.

... Unless it's AVLinux, made pretty much single handedly by @GMaq. Feel confident using that.

Re: Cinematic/orchestral instument suggetion

A great place to start would be @j_e_f_f_g's No Budget Orchestra Plugins. They're easy to use, cover a wide gamut of instruments and articulations, and don't have the issues of compatibility or licensing that you'll find in a lot of the other options.

Re: Migrating to FreeBSD

If we're not careful with this conversation, @GMaq might go rogue and rebase AVLinux on to FreeBSD... And then where would we be? For starters, he would have to decide whether to change the name or to just let it be a big lie.

Re: No Budget Pianos

It's because some audio hardware supports one clock rate better than the other. I never thought I would say this, but thanks Jeff for being the voice of reason. After testing my hardware, I concluded that it performs better at 48kHz than 44.1kHz, so that's what I use for all of my projects. Also, t...
