Re: moody ambient guitar take on Carol of the Bells

I agree that it's very good, especially once you understand what's going on the guitar. I think the rhythmic part is very impressive!

Thanks for listening! I appreciate it.

Very cool. That stereo delay sounded especially good with headphones.

Great to hear you liked the stereo delay! Thanks for listening.

Re: moody ambient guitar take on Carol of the Bells

Very groovy and really cool! I think the only small downside is that the theme melodies are often drowned as soon as you start them, but I guess that's simply because of the ton of delay that engulgs them: they're well recognizable anyway, so no big deal  Glad that they're recognizable! It...

Re: moody ambient guitar take on Carol of the Bells

Do you listen to Jean Baudin at all?

I hadn't heard of him. I just listened to "583 Years from Now" and really dug it. I will definitely be listening to more. Thanks!

moody ambient guitar take on Carol of the Bells

A delay-drenched moody jam on some motifs from "Carol of the Bells". https://soundcloud.com/modusjonens/improv-of-the-bells Definitely has some flubs, but I think the good parts outweigh the mistakes. In over five minutes of playing, I totally failed to play the "Merry Merry Merry Mer...

This was a ton of fun to listen to and watch! Thank you for sharing.

I think you nailed the symphonic black metal parts in particular. I definitely got some Old Man's Child vibes from some of the riffs.

Short funk rock intro

Started work on a funk rock track. https://soundcloud.com/modusjonens/mess-with-the-bull-get-the-horns I used an 8 string guitar (Ibanez RG-8) for the “bass” parts. 8) I chose to double the bass part as well. Hydrogen for drums. LMMS for organ sounds. Questions: Are these drums too busy? :?: What do...

Re: Conversations in Stereo

It is very nice to hear the warmth between you two in addition to the stories of writing / recording over the years. The parts where you both talk about early experiences with cassette recording brought back some memories of my own. For plenty of years during high school and college I made "mul...

This had a very strong emotional impact!! There is a sense of ... ethereal unease? I'm not sure exactly what words to use here.

I felt completely enveloped by this piece. Thank you so much for sharing!

Re: Botchin Bach (TD-3 programming)

This is great fun! :) Did you record the TD-3 straight into the soundcard? There is a certain bassy, meaty quality to it, that reminds me of good monitors recorded in a room or even a small PA. Thank you! I connected the TD-3 to my laptop by way of a Line 6 POD HD500X. I recorded directly into Ardo...

Re: A birthday song

Great track -- thanks for sharing!

I especially liked the double-kick patterns/fills. Nice touch!

The lead guitar opening got my attention right away. Great tone! Also, that brief bit around 0:24 is super cool and heightens the drama.

Botchin Bach (TD-3 programming)

I recently acquired a Behringer TD-3, a knock-off of the venerable Roland TB303. Here's my first attempt at some programming. Kind of weird to have a solo synth bass piece, but I can't think of a better way to learn to make the thing sound the way I'd like ;) https://soundcloud.com/modusjonens/botch...

Re: Guilt Amplifier (EDM)

As for the track you linked, I really like that tone you had on the rhythm guitar. Is that from a real amp, or ampsim like guitarix? Thanks! Glad you liked it. I use a Line 6 Pod HD500X. It serves as both an amp/cab modeler and an audio interface. (I happen to have done a write-up of that specific ...
