Re: Libre Music Challenge #25: Christmas Windows

Ok, there we go. Went pretty ballistic on this one on practically all levels after having to watch a dozen (or maybe more) Christmas movies the past weeks. After a few movies I started penning down a list of all the things that kept coming back in those movies and wrote a song around it. Basically e...

Re: Libre Music Challenge #25: Christmas Windows

Had some hope I could make it for Christmas too but it didn't pan out. Haven't even recorded all the instruments yet. MyLoFy million thanks for your session archive, hope you don't mind I use it as a guide on how to use the Airwindows suite in my own session. And I started with the DrumGizmo DRSkit ...

Re: Sunrise Loop Jam, Moon, and a Christmas Carol

Listening to "Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming" now and I think it's amazing! But then I'm such a sucker for melodica's and ukeleles. Love the voices too, they just sound so immensely honest and authentic, love it. Fantastic job and Merry Christmas indeed!

Re: Set rtprio for Reaper

When setting CPU DMA latency option in Reaper (Options - Preferences - Audio - Disable power management if supported) I don't think setting C states as a kernel option is necessary anymore. From what I understood is that if the CPU DMA latency is set to 0 the CPU never idles as it's being put in C0 ...

Re: Linux PC Builds for Audio Production. Recommended Hardware

The "blacklist" commands could go into a config file in /etc/modprobe.d/ i.e. /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-audio.conf. Then a reboot should pick up those settings. Disabling just the software will not deactivate the drivers so they will remain active in the background.

Re: Laptop for audio

Have checked refurbished laptops but the choice is minimal over here. And the ones that do have attractive specs are only about 10% cheaper than their contemporary equivalents.

Re: Laptop for audio

On the same boat! Didn't know about StarLabs, looks good! Looking for a bigger screen though myself (16-17") and I'd prefer a local supplier so it's going to be either https://bto.eu/ or https://laptopwithlinux.com/. Tending towards BTO as it's going to be a replacement for my current BTO. The ...

Re: Libre Music Challenge #24: Real Instruments

@SpotlightKid thanks! Agreed, it could use some strings here and there maybe, I'll give it a try when attempting a better mix or maybe even a better recording.
