Re: Mayb I'm a Leo (Deep Purple cover)

As a long time Deep Purple fan, nice cover! I find the main riff a bit too "stiff", though: guitar and organ are playing too much of the same thing, when Blackmore used a bit more bending on the low strings to make the riff more "dynamic" (if I'm making any sense). I think the or...

Re: Dreams of Seagulls - Like Snow [epic synth pop]

I find them sounding rather lackluster, like 8bit samples from an ancient drum machine? A bit more spark would serve the track better imo. A drum machine is what I'd expect in this genre, though. When I needed something like this, I used a Hydrogen drumkit that put together sounds from the TR-808 a...

Re: It's good time to go home (Video+music)

I agree with Basslint that the more organic sounds of this track really make it shine! The classical guitar is used very atmospherically here: I think the only thing that may be missing is a bit of reverb, and maybe a very thin pad or something to accompany in the background (but that's definitely a...

Re: I Lean to You

A quite unusual track, and definitely not what I expected when it started! I like the last part more of the rest, from when it gets quieter at ~ 4:00m (a Hammond would have sounded amazing playing that part!) to the delicate piano outro. The first part is nice rhythmically, but I'm not fond of the s...

Re: LibrePlanet conference looking for good FLO-licensed music for conference livestream

Seems not many people here release their music under CC licence? Me neither. Keeping 'all rights reserved' just seems to me the prudent thing to do. After all, one can always ask for permission to use something in a certain way? I agree that it's the most prudent approach, and the one I've followed...

I always struggle to properly define your music, as it's often quite particular: it definitely reminds me of those synth artists from the 80s (Jarre comes to mind), but with fascinating classical music influences in the way you write your themes. This track makes no exception, good work!

Very nice AOR track! The intro reminded me of "Far from over" by Frank Stallone, and then it veered more into Supertramp territory. Really cool!

Very nice presentation, well done! It must have been a challenge to give this talk to many non-musicians but you did a great job of delivering lots of info in a short amount of time. If you do it again I hope you include more of your music as an example of the objective. Thanks for taking the time ...

Quick PS: apparently the video is available, but not linked to the talk page yet (it should appear there too soon). To watch the video, you can use the following link instead.

"Become a rockstar using FOSS!" @ FOSDEM 2023

Hi all, yesterday I did a presentation called "Become a rockstar using FOSS" in the Open Media devroom at FOSDEM 2023. It was meant as a very basic introduction and overview on the Linux music ecosystem, starting from JACK/Pipewire to how you can start plugging your instrument in, tinker w...

The Maestro Concert Grand samples have been converted to SFZ format, and sfizz is really easy to use. You should try the combo and see if you like it:

That's interesting, how does it compare to Salamander, which is what I've been using so far?

Re: Wherever, Whatever, Whenever

The orchestration and sounds reminds me a lot of Renaissance, a band that if you know me you'll know means a great deal to me: same 70s/80s orchestral prog vibes, especially in thr gorgeous part at 3:05. The strings in particular are quite luscious. Fantastic job! I am a fellow Renaissance fan, eve...
