Himiko

Hi all, since next week I'll be back to Japan for work after my last trip there 5 years ago and I'm quite excited about it, I thought I'd use that as an opportunity to finally share this track with you all: https://soundcloud.com/lminiero/himiko By "finally", I mean I actually finished wor...

@Rainmak3r
I saw the original Asia tour in support of that album! My neighbour's Mom drove us 100 miles to Toronto, it was epic!

You lucky man!!

Re: MGV - From the Beginning LIVE

ELP did some impressive work on Brain Salad Surgery. But while technically proficient, these three musicians aren't always the most sophisticated and insightful when it comes to creative ideas. Greg Lake, in particular, writes some really dreadful, insipid "love ballads", which I consider...

Re: MGV - Tribute to Gordon Lightfoot

Thanks for the detailed analysis! Yeah I suspected strings were acoustic, which indeed I would probably not enjoy, but it does look like a jack of many trades.

Once more I'm unfamiliar with the original song, but I loved your version!

Re: Two soundtrack pieces

Both pieces are quite different, in that they are straightforward and painted in broad strokes. Raw emotion rather than involved polyphony. Raw emotion is good: more Tchaikovsky, less 20th century brainy classical music  Gorgeous pieces, even if a sad mood was what led you that place. I ho...

Re: MGV - Tribute to Gordon Lightfoot

Always nice to see videos from you, GMaq ! I never heard of Gordon Lightfoot before, but greatly liked the first song you played there: I'm a sucker for long winded epic songs, and the folky nature of the song was great too! The second one I cared less about, as it was a bit too much on the "ea...

Re: Power Over People

I recently finished this track after a very long period of creative block and video game addiction. I thought I was the only one suffering from that! One of the reasons why I've done so little, recently (besides laziness and lack of motivation) is indeed games: just recently, Assasin's Creed ...

Re: ('Twas a) Ghast Christmas

Excellent mood in this track. But I've you hadn't written it, I would never have guessed that it is a cover of Last Christmas. Not much left of the original song. That's the whole point  It's the same notes, but played MUCH slower, instead of a major chord, you have a minor chord, and differen...

Re: ('Twas a) Ghast Christmas

I love both Paradise Lost and My Dying Bride, who were good representatives of early gothic/doom metal  My Dying Bride in particular always have massive guitars, which I guess were partly an inspiration since I love them, even though in this case the main "muse" were funeral doom ...

Re: Mayb I'm a Leo (Deep Purple cover)

Thanks! I am huge fan too. In fact, I started playing the guitar because of Deep Purple! Same here, or almost! I remember falling in love with hard rock after seeing a video of "I wanna rock" by Twisted Sisters as a kid: a cousin of mine then made me a tape which on one side had all Back ...

Re: Do you listen to/enjoy your own music regularly?

it is still sad, when my life is focused on a thing I do not really like...thats pretty sad. I am glad that I still can enjoy music  It is indeed the problem of mastering any art: the moment you learn "how the sausage is made", you often end up thinking more about the process than t...

radio free fedi

Hi all, not sure if this post is in scope with this section (maybe it belongs more to "General Music Discussion"?), but just yesterday I was made aware of a project called radio free fedi , which in their own words is a "small web, consent driven, artist populated, non-commercial mech...

Re: Do you listen to/enjoy your own music regularly?

I must admit I'm one of those that listen to their own tracks way too much  I hope there's no narcissism involved... I think it's because very often my tracks were born out of music I heard so much in my head that I very much wanted to listen to it, and so I recorded it: when it eventually come...

Re: LibrePlanet conference looking for good FLO-licensed music for conference livestream

"All Rights Reserved" is "most prudent" in the same way that proprietary software licensing is "most prudent". In most cases, licensing makes no difference one way or another because nobody is going to do anything different, you get ignored or get the music played eith...
