Re: Axiom (EP)

Playing some catch up down here.. Enjoying 'axiom'! As we've discussed before we work in very different genres but I think we have a nice overlap in appreciation for Deep Purple and I like the great riffs and organ work in the first 2 songs and you got a great Blackmore tone in Red and Blue! I woul...

Re: Axiom (EP)

Much of this is a bit too aggressive for me, but I really liked Hitori Yes, it was indeed an attempt to do something more guitar oriented, even though most of the influences were 70s and 80s, so I didn't anticipate it could be seen as too aggressive overall (apart from maybe a couple of "heavi...

Re: Axiom (EP)

Wow great! Love instrumental guitar music. I very much like the middle-eastern influences in Roots, Armadillo and Axiom. I prefer the tracks without melodic synths. As for guitar, most parts did not sound like they were played on single-coils, I think you got a great distorted tone out of them! Goo...

Re: Drop-D (Matteo Mancuso duet solo challenge)

I've hard Matteo Mancuso but I did not know that he played that kind of style! Good job, I do not think you made a "brutta figura" :D He's mostly a fusion player, I think, but the first single from his new album was a bit more on the heavy side indeed. Thanks for the nice words

Re: Orchestral Mockup in Musescore 4

Last week I tried to give MuseScore 4 a chance to test Muse Sounds, and unfortunately it was a disaster... I have the same concerns as others about the closed source nature of Muse Hub, which is shared by others in their community too apparently, but I was curious so I decided to try and use it anyw...

Re: Drop-D (Matteo Mancuso duet solo challenge)

Thanks! For the phrasing I tried to borrow something from the backing track too, like when I mirror the arpeggio that comes in towards the end. The ascending run is a cheap trick I use often, and just takes advantage of the fact the fingers shape remains the same  It's something lazy guita...

Re: escape velocity -- instrumental melodic tech death metal

The only thing a bit more lackluster IMHO may be drums: what drumkit did you use in Hydrogen? I'm more or less using the Death Metal kit in Hydrogen. I don't tend to vary velocity much, so if it sounds robotic, I wouldn't be terribly surprised. What kit(s) do you like? I usually don't use the Hydro...

Re: MAX-Q

I think it's about time I start experimenting with that too, rather than do the usual MuseScore + VPO dance I usually do that takes a lot effort. Last time I checked MuseScore 4 was not available for Fedora yet, though, and apparently you need to get sounds via their own proprietary tool which is a...

Re: Autumn/Oblivion: a merger

After listening to The Inhabitant, I just went through the whole EP. I think it does work as a single piece of work! I personally can't hear the integration issues you mentioned, but we always are the heaviest critics of our own work

As usual, gorgeous soundscapes to those gorgoeus landscapes! I consider you our own Jean-Michel Jarre :D

Re: The Inhabitant: a glimpse

Very cool! It reminds me of some of the more atmospheric tracks by early Antimatter. I love Antimatter! The electronic influence on their earlier albums was due to this Anathema guy, who's sadly left the band. But without him, Mick still makes great stuff. Black Market is a stellar album.. I loved ...

Re: Buskers - Hellhole in the Sofa (Video made using Linux software)

Good first effort, as others have said do keep them coming! Since you mentioned being new to JACK and all that, I thought I'd give a link to a talk I made at the last FOSDEM on how to "become a rockstar" using just Linux. The title is very much tongue-in-cheek of course, as I'm d...

That riffing was tight! No sloppyness I could detect (or maybe I'm so used to mine that I didn't notice it  )
