Re: Libre Music Challenge #13 : Looptober
Here's my submission https://drive.google.com/uc?export=download&id=1iAvVIrm2DwnFPWLNtD_5XlSqof2bmmKD a .zip with 25 loops in 24bit flac, I hope everything is alright. Thanks for answering me on libera.chat :-) License is CC-BY-SA , I'd prefer to be identified by my other alias, aloo_shu, for th...

Re: Libre Music Challenge #13 : Looptober
I'd much prefer limiting to NC [reasons], but if that cannot be done, then what, I'll just go with what's suggested. I'm having a question, though: are 10 loops a fix number, or a minimum? I'll explain: I've just jammed away with tin whistle and guitar, the 5 minute whistle take is rendering a dozen...

again
http://alooshu.byethost17.com/again.mp3 One day, recording a backing track, another day, jamming over it. First time I'm using the great Red Zeppelin drum plugin, not sure why I had skipped on it before. Could say a lot of nice things about it, yet the whole track is only one and the same pattern, m...

Re: Tumbleweed
Sweet tune :) Despite all the cute retro, what I'm digging most, are the chorus choirs, with their close voicings, excellent intonation, and a mix so balanced it can afford to be warm without getting muddy; you can actually enjoy the harmonic beats/interferences happening between the voices (yet no ...

Re: Mellow - another sound-on-sound sketch
Thanks :) Core of the 'responsive' setup is input (preamp) into both GxExpander, and from there into dist channel, and ZamComp, and from there, into clean channel, where the out of GxExpander goes into the activated sidechain of ZamComp. The Expander needs the most attentive fine tuning. Wrt. loopy ...

Re: Mellow - another sound-on-sound sketch
Thanks folderol :) As an addendum to my technical rant: I've just done a bit of maths, and at 30 BPM, a whole note is already 8 sec, the maximum delay time offered in manual time adjustment by this delay, yet values of < 30 BPM and hence, > 8s for delay time, are still working when the delay time is...

Mellow - another sound-on-sound sketch
http://alooshu.byethost17.com/mellow.mp3 compared to c-drone, there are several changes here: I've taken the setup out of Ardour and into Carla, so rather than multitracking, I'm doing everything live here, and only with one guitar, an acoustic tuned 'baritone', a 4th down to B, very slack strings. ...

Re: Shake your Lele!
You don't need Reaper, you just need to understand what the 4 pieces in the chain are doing, it is 1 instrument, the wolpertinger synth, and 3 effects. Wolpertinger and ZamComp, you can find in/for linux anyway, as lv2, so you could copy the values one by one; for the octave, you could use any pitch...

Re: Shake your Lele!
comp.jpg chorus.jpg Wolpertinger is a VSTi (but available as lv2), ZamComp is lv2, the other two, in Reaper/Cocko's own JesuSonic format. You'd either have to use Reaper, or build the JS host that IIRC, is opensource, or find replacements - the octaver is behaving like a special case pitch shifter ...

Re: c-drone - Echoes of India
Ravi Shankar? Ok, I'll let the cat out of the bag then - low tuned acoustic, lots of pure intervals like 5ths, long sound-on-sound delays, lots of time and space for subtle developments - Steve Tibbets (e.g. watch https://stevetibbetts.com/walking/ ). An inspiring artist on several planes - composi...

Re: c-drone - Echoes of India
if I'd remix it, that's one of the things I might do myself. Small speakers accentuate it, I did skip listening on phones and tablets with this mix, but it's good practice to test that, too

Shake your Lele!
http://alooshu.byethost17.com/shake%20y ... 20flow.mp3 , an instrumental done with my cheapo uke, but in the spirit of the timple, a canarian instrument.

Re: c-drone - Echoes of India
Thank you for the praise :-). People around me at this time, also seem to like the piece, and so do I. Sounds nice! What is that wind instrument you are playing? That's the Tin Whistle, actually a somewhat rare one that Hohner had made in the 1970's? in South Africa, and exactly the Bb model that's ...
