Re: Ardour 2..8.5 released

@funkmuscle: you have a good point there.
I paid real money for my last Ardour download - didn't notice that the default was the OS-X version - I had to go back and get the Linux version for $0.00. I could have been more on the ball but..... ..... this is a linux app right?

makekit: building hydrogen kits - bug warning

I recently discovered that drumkits built with my makekit script failed to work with recent svn versions of hydrogen. The quick fix for this is to edit the kit's drumkit.xml file - to be found in .hydrogen/data/drumkits/ kitname - and remove any leading or trailing spaces between the <name> and </na...

Re: Hydrogen Instrument Layers not Loading & General Setup

Hi, DJ. You are trying to combine the sounds of these synths? Mix them? If so, I think you should be loading and triggering them as separate instruments and using the mixer window to blend them. The layers thing is for triggering different samples at different velocities for the same instrument: so ...

Re: Trouble with JACK

Just missed your last post. Try setting periods=1024 ( a nice safe value ). 64 is a very low setting which is why you are getting all those xruns. check out the wiki: http://wiki.linuxmusicians.com/doku.php?id=system_configuration&DokuWiki=f3969b6b87235c1b2dbab72978397f76 What sound card are you...

Re: Trouble with JACK

Unfortunately playing you-tube vids isn't going to work unless you're using something like the ALSA Jack Plugin because neither your browser or flash is jack-aware. ( I personally don't find this plugin very effective but YMMV. ) Aeolus should work but you will need to manually connect the audio &am...

Re: [wish] gui for jconv

I'm seeing the same thing.
Top reports total usage:

jack only: 0.7% user 0.5% sys
jcgui ( jconv off ) 8.3% user 17.5%sys
jcgui ( jconv on ) 20.9%user 19.9%sys

The "sys" figure with jconv off looks suspiciously high.

Re: a little video study

Ah, yes. Good stuff. I listened to this already ( you posted it to LAU ) and I forgot that I had it. It fits well with the star-scape imagery. It would be good to see a full length vid for this track. I've been meaning to have a go at this kind of thing but haven't been able to find the time so far....

Re: a little video study

Nice work, Dave. My only criticism is that it's far too short - I wanted to hear the whole track.
But, as you say, it's a demo.

Re: Trouble with JACK

Hi, Chimples. Your jack messages look healthy to me, there's nothing wrong there.
Are your audio outputs turned up? Use alsamixer or similar.
How are you generating the audio (that you can't hear)?

Have no problem with a already running jconv now here anymore.
Confirmed. :D
I have add a function to expand/compress the effect chain ... It's the little button under the last effect.
That's not working for me ( svn@463 ) - nothing happens. :(

Re: Impulse convolver/guitarix

The auto-freq on the IR filter works well - I can fine-tune the amount of bite it adds to the distortion until it sounds just right. Nice. svn@460: Guitarix crashes if jconv was still running when Guitarix was last closed down (unless you hit the jconv button quick enough). Once started though - no ...

I've not had much to report lately because I really haven't had any problems at all.

A happy year to you,
