Re: Upgrade from KXStudio 14.04

from my experiemnce:
if you are using foreign software on wine in your workflow — i'd suggest 16.04.
on 18.04, things that worked flawlessly in 14.04 and 16.04, stopped working for me (e.g. NI FM8, Novation V-Station).

Re: Skip the ISO and focus on documentation?

KXstudio repos are much more important for the whole linux audio community than a conventional ISO-packed distro.
i think, the latter should be considered as a bonus that used to be, nice to have, but could be sacrificed.

Re: Why Linux? And why Linux for pro-audio?

(what software was available 18 years ago, you may wonder? ha! i was obsessed with csound !) but after reading facebook, i realised...

just 2 cents for those who are curious about all this snap packaging thing. snap packaging system is advertised as the deliverance from distro-specific dependencies hell, but for some reason no one talks about its drawbacks. snap packaging potentially means not only significant disk space overhead (...

looked at R16, but then LiveTrak L-12 was released, and it's completely operational in linux when in class compliant mode.
