Re: Captain Klonk

Thanks. That's what happened when I pursued the idea of making something out of banging away, hands flat open, on the 4-octave piano keyboard. Really, no conscious chords are being played in that piece on the piano keyboard, just flapping away, a bit down there, a bit in the middle, a bit on the hig...

Re: Through

folderol I see the analogy and it does reflect the structure of the piece. The heavy guitar-sounding bits near the end of the middle section surely did not help :) Not sure if I'll keep this one like this although there's something that tells me that the contrast, along with the notion of 'through'...

Re: Perceiving repetitions : moods and listening

I get it, it's more philosophical. I personally enjoy repetitive music with subtle variation, like Philip Glass. I guess repetition is fine if you are not doing it just to fill an empty space. Glass is a typical example that goes to the extreme. And it does have a charm. But at other times it might...

Re: Keyboards and Linux.

I am new here and long story short I play keyboards, mostly piano, and I am a long time Linux user (since 1998). I have put off combining those two for far too long but I am ready now to record some music and as a Linux user I have to learn how. So again, I know how to play and I know how to fix a ...

Re: Perceiving repetitions : moods and listening

I see but it's not really about attention, it's more about 'is it needed to repeat those bars once more ?' And sometimes redundancy is OK to listen to while at other times the repetition is annoying. About a same piece of course, that's listened-to on various occasions. The thread's subject line mig...

Perceiving repetitions : moods and listening

Have you noticed that what can be heard as an excruciatingly redundant repetition can, at other times be totally smooth and nice going ? I'm leaning towards taking an average perception. Is an extra step in a loop being perceived only as redundant ? If so, removed. Does it sometimes just go on smoot...

Re: which song is coming out of your speakers right now, the sequel

She is from Ufa Bashkiriya Russia :) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zemfira Thanks. Before reading that reference I thought she was from Ukraine from the stories I read of fire brigades arriving at concert venues a day before concerts to tag the building as 'unsafe', an action that was done in relat...

Re: which song is coming out of your speakers right now, the sequel

Thanks for mentioning Katia Yonder - did not know and it sounds pretty good from this clip on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkIZwiOu-nQ Stylistically it's a bit in the same genre as this other Russian music I listen to since years and years, Koan: "When the Silence is Speaking...&quo...

Re: which song is coming out of your speakers right now, the sequel

No chance - I am not speaking russian although I like some of the songs by Земфира (Zemfira) :

"Без шансов"

"Деньги" (Money)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_PsGcO--Pc

I know she's from Ukraine.

Re: Providence! - A Song For the People in These Times!!!

Either people will take the time to watch it or they won't. The knowledge that is presented in that video is important that is why I posted it. Ultimately, one either has the desire to know the truth or they don't - in the end everyone will reap what they have sown wither they knew what they were s...

Actions speaks louder than words.

And it's even a song.
