Re: Calibrating a Microphone

Hi! I am not sure if there are more automatic ways to do this, but you might be interested in this tutorial I published some time ago: https://linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?t=17759. Not exactly the same stuff, but it could give you some idea, especially the Room Response and Compensation EQs sect...

Re: how to make a video like this

I see. I went ahead and still did a mini tutorial just in case somebody else is interested and feels daunted by Blender, although I think learning Blender definitely pays much more off in the long run (it is a very good program with incredible capabilities). Shotcut is very minimal in comparison. Li...

Re: how to make a video like this

Hey, I did not read the whole thread, so I don't know if this was mentioned already, but I though I would mention that creating a video like the example in OP should be fairly easy with shotcut, although the EQ effect will maybe not look as cool. If you are interested, I can show how to do it.

[ANN] Disowned AUR Packages. Want to Adopt them?

Hey, as you guys know I am maintaining a bunch of AUR packages . However, I have now undertaken many new projects and I find myself not in the condition to be able to care after their maintenance properly. So I disowned a fair amount of them. Here a list of packages I disowned that are still orphan ...

Re: Spring reverb

Hey there! I am very late to the party, but here my few cents. I am not aware of any open source physical-model-based spring reverb. This is something I wanted to look into, and maybe I will do. For the time being I have only being reading about a finite difference scheme in this book (it has an ent...

Hey there! I moved the project to a snazzier website: https://computational-acoustics.gitlab.io/website/

The old links above should redirect, hopefully.

Cheers.

A quickie from me too (been trying to think about other stuff all day, but couldn't help go read some more). Main, which contains links to download: https://www.who.int/healthinfo/global_b ... ftware/en/ Ah nice. Cool. jonetsu , I think you could safely replace most of the sources you linked with ju...

Re: COVID-19

Hi there! In other words we do not know much about how it goes at the WHO regarding this So then let's drop this open-source-check-the-code thing ? Which more and more seems like a dream regarding how the WHO operates ? Sorry but no. Single governments are commissioning studies to third parties, and...

Re: COVID-19

Thanks for the link about simulations. It pretty much goes about what simulations would be. Please note that the person who did states clearly that he is not an epidemiologist and that what is shown is a toy model. Yes, he covers only the basics and his models are meant to study the fundamentals of...

Re: COVID-19

Population proportions and conditions in which they live also does not matter at all. You have undoubtedly seen many times some of the conditions in which people live in China, in large cities as well as the countryside. Then a population of 1.5 billion is the same as say, the population of Iceland...

Re: COVID-19

But then, why would a mainstream US TV media take footage of a busy hospital in Italy from the 22nd to pretend this was int he US on the 25th? With TV footage to support the evidence. Because Italy on the 22nd will be the USA in a few weeks from the 22nd. This is how epidemics grow, that is what I ...

Re: COVID-19

Noahsark Right, I have been trying to keep away from this thread as this illness claimed the life of 3 people I know, and killed 25 people a day in my home town in Italy in the last 2 weeks. Friends of mine in the healthcare system are working mad shifts and the army has been employed to set up fie...

Re: general guidance with CPU governors, etc

I also have TLP installed (bad idea?) TLP is pretty good, I have been using it for years. What you describe though seems to suggest that TLP might be configured to crank the performance up to full whack when your laptop is on AC which, to the best of my knowledge, I do not think is the default beha...

Re: I just want a stable Linux desktop to develop and run Faust programs

Faust- I just used one of the included examples. I hadn't even looked at the code before, I just built it. Says it's using a deprecated library. Not sure if anything at all will change, but try this: dm = library("demos.lib"); process = dm.reverse_echo_demo(3); It uses a recent demo. Also...
