Re: What place does music hold in your life?

For me it's a side show -- a hobby. It's an escape, and a balm. It used to be all-consuming, and it sometimes gets close to that again when I am really excited about a project. But that's nothing compared to what music was for me 25 years ago. I'm almost certain that if I had had the chance I would ...

LSP Multi-Sampler can do what you are imagining, I think: https://lsp-plug.in/?page=manuals&secti ... ampler_x48

Re: Step it Bach

Haha! I love it!! As an old comic strip once said, "Great minds think alike ... And so do ours!" A very nice pastiche. It belongs on a playlist with Walter Murphy's "Fifth of Beethoven" and David Shire's "Night on Disco Mountain." But I think your arrangement is more ar...

Re: Transfer Point: Prelude in C - Surf Rock version

Thank you for your comments and listens. I laughed so many times while making this recording that I'm glad it made some of you smile too. The chords in this song just keep coming and coming. I had to practice that bass part for a whole week before I could record it because it just never gives you a ...

Haha! That's a lot better than mob violence.

Thanks for listening, everyone. I sure had fun making this track. I also learned a lot. There are layers upon layers of things to learn from this chord progression.

Re: Rain On Your Parade

This is a really well done track. The guitar work is spot-on, as always with your work. I agree with @GMaq about the lead vocal. Another easy way to get a similar effect to what he described is with Calf Vintage Delay.

Re: 01/22 - brand new song, first of the year

I like this song a lot. The vocals remind me of Kurt Cobain's baritone range. Something about the melodic phrasing is very Cobain-y. Even the chord progression of the song. I kept waiting for you to hit the distortion pedal, jump the voice up an octave, and start screaming. :) But I'm glad you didn'...

Whoa, that's a heavy song! You render a solid performance. I thought your vocals were especially well done. Also that super gritty guitar solo.

Re: Fire Wheels

I really enjoyed this track. It is super groovy and makes me want to move. The slap bass is an awesome sound, but could easily be overdone. Just shy of 3 minutes was perfect. I get what you are saying about preproduction vs postproduction. I have tended to favor recording tracks dry and then adding ...

This is a very nice production. It may be Kajsa's best performance yet. And your work on the synths is fantastic! This is one to listen to on headphones.

Re: Snare with cymbal sitting on top

You could maybe get an effect like that by re-amping a sampled snare drum through a speaker with a snare drum strapped to it and a cymbal sitting on top. That would be far less work than making a new sample probably.

That is a cool sound - almost like an 80's gated reverb snare.

Behringer Xenyx 1204USB Review

Hey all, I have been using a Behringer Xenyx 1204USB in my home studio since last summer, and I just posted a review of the hardware: https://sanderson.band/2022/03/18/behringer-xenyx-1204usb/ The bottom line is that it works just fine on Linux but isn't exactly what I wanted/needed in terms of feat...

Cool jam! I like the mixture of synth and guitar voices.
