Re: Windows DAWs on Linux Mint?
Yes, it's probably something with wine. I have the "standard" wine, should I uninstall that one first, before installing the wine-rt version? And as you see below, there's 4 uninstalled packages that are called something with "wine-rt", should I just install them all? There's no...

Re: Windows DAWs on Linux Mint?
I am using kde neon but I would think that the important thing is wine, I am using the rt version from the kxstudio repo, I think mint can use that as well. What are you missing exactly? Maybe you have overlooked something and we can help and give suggestions. Running a whole daw in wine can be very...

Re: Any suggestions for Kick Drum VSTi
Zynaddsubfx can do it, it gives you a lot of control. There is a video on Youtube by unfa where he demonstrates how to do it.
Bitwig's synths can do that job though, layered if necessary.

Free version works ok for me so far.Mister Mint wrote:I wonder if anyone has tried Zynewave Podium and got it working?
Honestly, I'm not sure what the appeal is, it's the most unintuitive daw I've ever used. Ardour seems much more powerful and easier to use.

Re: [ANN] LSP Plugins 1.0.14 released!
The Release Time works only if the envelope is over the Release Level that is by default -inf . Otherwise the Attack Time works instead. This allows you in some cases make the sound of the track punchy, especially when the Release time is times greater than Attack time . Thank you for the explanati...

Re: [ANN] LSP Plugins 1.0.14 released!
From the video it looks like the Level is a threshold? I'm having trouble conceptualizing a control for that on both attack and (particularly) release.
The compressor looks really good though, mid/side, wet/dry, different compression modes, vst and lv2...I couldn't ask for more. Thanks so much.

Re: Oberheim OBX synth software
This one's been available for quite a while at http://distrho.sourceforge.net/ports. The new news is that its further development has been picked up by discoDSP : http://www.discodsp.com/obxd/ That's good to hear, their stuff is very high quality so this might have an exciting future. I'm a bit con...

Re: Ubuntu Studio's reputation
If I wanted to use xfce I would probably give it a try. It was one of the first distros I used but I don't remember much about my experience with it. Really though, for me at least, it coming with a DE I don't want as well as tools I don't use (qjackctl etc) it's just easier to install something clo...

Re: Windows DAWs on Linux Mint?
Are you running 64 bit studio one or 32 bit? A few reports mention that 32 bit is the only version they could get working.
Your version of wine could be causing a problem, is it 1.6 you have?

Re: Proper system configuration
If you are using plasma 5 watch out for indicator-cpufreq, for me it caused plasmashell to use more cpu than it should to.
I can't imagine that cadence or qjackctl would have much effect on performance as they both just start JACK but it's an interesting question.
