Dropstep (guitar) cheatsheet mystery, for Yodas
https://tinyurl.com/yy3ugsrf I edited the above dynamic cheatsheet some time ago and completely forgot what a simple aide-memoire on it was supposed to mean. The sheet is for dropstep guitar, featuring chord voicings that my fingers allow me to contemplate. If you like it save it because it's dated ...

Re: chord showcasing swiss-knife songs?
It's an interesting idea -- one song for all seven chords. The idea was just a path to some indefinite learning aid. Little did I know that most songs do NOT use all chords of a key or even restrict to chords in that key. I got the evidently/eminently screwed up notion form key-chord pages like htt...

Re: chord showcasing swiss-knife songs?
"Then Came the Last Days of May" would help, you might have the idea the 7th is missing but it's only substituted ;-) Thanks... Hey that thing sounds not bad at all! I found a 3-track midi of it too, looks like I'll have to separate the chords out of the Guitar-1 track though. It uses cho...

Re: VLC to start using JACK in AUTO?
Did you install the VLC JACK plugin? Yes, I ran intro VLC prefences dialogs which I had no idea what to put into but it's all moot now, this script gives me EVERYTHING. I can now sit down to a creative or jam session using jack and browse the net or launch a 'kill everyone on the planet' shootup ga...

chord showcasing swiss-knife songs?
I thought I had just posted about this but cannot find it, maybe I hit the cancel button. My apologies if it's duplication, gonna keep this edition short. I'm looking for a few 'pleasant enough' songs that use all but only the standard chords in their key. Slow rock would be good as it can be played...

Re: VLC to start using JACK in AUTO?
If I want to hear VLC audio while JACK is running I need to set "Audio" to "Jack" in VLC preferences, save, exit and relaunch. Is there a way to have VLC latch itself to JACK automatically while "Auto" is in prefs instead of "Jack"? I came across a script cal...

I just put ears on your song for Evelyn; I know that no words could do, and so I won't even try.milo wrote:https://alansanderson.band

Re: *Music* anyone?
Good for you for seeing this through to completion. I am a medical doctor, a neurologist, and I am always telling my older patients to keep their brains active by trying new things and learning new skills. I wish I could get all of my patients to take on such a big project like you have done here. ...

Re: *Music* anyone?
Well done for finishing this! It was an ambitious project for your fourth song. :D Thanks, it wasn't ambitious it was underestimated with the attitude of a stuck-up snob. I thought it would be a piece of cake, being slow and all that. It ended up being anything but. Well, at least I managed to impr...

identifying a song AND artist
Sorry, I had to truncate the mp3 to be able to up it It's part of the Gibson guitar course I bought many years ago, I asked the guy who sells the kit who plays it but he couldn't tell me. I'd like to ID it cause I want to SEE the the duo or trio that plays it. Tried all the on-line jokes but NONE ca...

Re: *Music* anyone?
I expect to make the final video within a week or two and then it's on to the next one. This is my 4th song learned, I have about 50 others to learn and while I could and would love to spend a year learning each, I don't think I have that luxury   BTW many thanks, goes without saying. Y...

Re: DoReMiFa Solfege
I see the "war" between diatonic and chromatic music to be beyond my level. :D I would think you can play a blues scale. That has chromatic notes. For guitarists the blues scale could be the first scale they learn so why not learn to sing that ? :D It's much more a question of what we hav...

Re: DoReMiFa Solfege
I think muscle memory is awesome to have, it's something I'm trying to work towards myself. I envy musicians who can play "by feel" as opposed to "by head". :) Are you struggling with music theory in general, or just with connecting the movements and sounds with the concepts? I ...

Re: DoReMiFa Solfege
The confusion is that there are various systems of using the St. John hymn syllables. Afaik in Spanish it's indeed just alternative names for the notes. However, there's a thing called the Kodály method, which uses movable-do, la minor solfege along with clapping rhythms and simple folk songs. (Whi...

Re: drums in syntesized midi
I use qjackctl, rosegarden and qsynth mostly with standard midi synths or the ZYNADDSUBFX dssi plugin and/or Hydrogen. I'd like to get a drum sound similar to what 's in here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEeqramL4mQ Any suggestions? Is that a kick? I normally set my backing tracks up in rosegard...
