Re: Best sound card to buy?

I have an Alesis Multimix 4 USB that works well under linux. It was the only thing I could afford. Don't buy it, my experience has not been good with it. It works great under linux but it's not a good interface.

Re: Unaware of a Direction (was Live sequencing with Hydrogen)

It's not easy to let go a song, one could be adding /changing stuff forever on it! I'm glad you learned a lot from th experience and as you generously shared the whole process, I (and I'm sure I'm not the only one) have learned a lot as well! So, thanks for sharing. The song is awesome and it does s...

Re: What language would you recommend me to start diving into?

QT isn't a language, it's a GUI ToolKit :) Most audio app's are written in C or C/C++ some are written in python. If you relay like to dive into the Audio Application Development and write or edit jack audio applications, I guess you cant do it without learning C/C++. jack itself is written in C, w...

What language would you recommend me to start diving into?

I have a question, but first I'll give a brief intro. I've been using linux (Ubuntu) for about a year and a half and it completely changed my way of aproaching software. Open source philosophy is great and I would love to contribute something other than my opinion on software from a point of view of...

I use liferea and it works fine; in fact, I just saw this on the update of Liferea. I'm on ubuntu 10.04.

Re: Which distribution?

Hi, I bought an Alesis Multimix 4 USB that works on linux. It's a piece of sh*t! My advice is to avoid it like the plague, the phantom power gives you only 5v, the inherent snoise it has it very, very loud. Avoid it, I didn't get away with it and now I'm investing on a decent one. I liked the saffir...

Re: guitarix 0.12 SVN - some remarks

That's the way to make a constructive criticism, I kkow some people could get offended when someone corrects their grammar, I hope is not the case with Guitarix's developers. It's already awesome and the correction of the small issues you mention would make it even better.

It would be useful, however, that QSynth built in QTractor as they are written by the same author...
I will try to suggest this to Rui Nuno Capela.

Thanks,
I would say that Rui is against the idea of making an all-in-one software but asking for it don't hurt, right?

Re: The new zynaddsubfx ui in QT

I use yoshimi, it's the same, more stable (at least on my machine) and the GUI is nicer, it's almost the same but without the random font sizes.

Re: Project to refer to: band just released 100%-FOSS-made album

This is very encouraging because even if I knew that linux audio/graphics have a good level that would allow one to release a record, it's good to have a proof of that. I'm currently on the process of learning cinelerra/blender, I feel pretty solid in audio (after several months) because my aim is t...

Hi nickleus, long time no see, you were, I believe, my first contact in the linux audio world. I've come a long way since then...relatively.

Glad to see you

Re: Open-source music softwares in movies

Here in Germany there's a police series called "Alarm für Cobra 11 - Die Autobahnpolizei". In one episode thay needed to hack computer and guess what they've done, they've just minimized the window of Avira AntiVir and said: "Ok, wir sind drin!", in english: "Ok, we hacked ...

Re: Killswitch effect

Well i realized it's actually simpler than what I posted before. Just with the calf-git pulsator plugin I culd pull it off. The only thing you have to do is to connect the left output (or right, but only one output) from the pulsator to both L & R system playback ports, that way you are only lis...

Re: Killswitch effect

I've had some success. This is what I did: Ingredients: calf git plugins (pulsator, gate) In jack I hooked my guitar to the pulsator, then I activated the sidechain in the gate plugin, and connected the L channel from the pulsator to the sidechain IN of the gate. Then the gate OUT to the system. Aft...
