Re: [SOLVED ;-) ] Myriad of problems....

It was just a deb that I randomly found after searching google. I should have guessed to go straight to yours! ;-)

Yours worked straight away, although there are no instruments or effects; I guess I have to import them to a folder somewhere?

Re: [SOLVED ;-) ] Myriad of problems....

Hi again! ;-) Thanks for that, going to install it now, in the meantime, raising the timeout has handled that error. PS. I notice you are in The Netherlands, are you near Oss? I work there quite a bit, if you are I might actually get to buy you that beer! ;-) PPS. I think I'll persevere with ZASFX, ...

Re: [SOLVED ;-) ] Myriad of problems....

...although, sadly, this may throw that sentiment into disarray! ;-) Everything (apart from LinuxSampler, but then I'd given up on that as a lost cause) WAS working, but now every time I change the instrument in ZynAddSubFX it disconnects itself from Jack, meaning I can only use the default sound. T...

Re: Myriad of problems....

Ha ha ha - got it ;-) The formant was far too quiet to hear is all, once I turned up the pre-amp and fiddled a little, I heard that distinctive vocoded sound; I nearly fell off my chair! Thank you so much guys! You seriously do the open source world an enormous credit! It wouldn't be what it is with...

Re: Myriad of problems....

Hi, it's better with Jack rather than Alsa for midi, but still a little jittery. I'll continue playing. I did raise it to 70 and it's much better - something about it feels more stable, although I can't put my finger on it. After watching you video on youtube, I can't wait to get the Vocoder working...

Re: Myriad of problems....

Firstly, I am astonished just how patient, friendly and helpful you all are; I truly am in awe! Secondly, thanks for the vids (to all that posted), the last one is exactly how I'm setting it up, but sadly, my output sounds nothing like it does on the vid. I am putting the voice into Aux and the two ...

Re: Myriad of problems....

Aha - LinuxSampler seems to be working now! Fantastic! It does sound a bit distorted, but I'm sure I can work on that! ;-) It still only loads one .gig file though. Rakarrack crashes even with those two effects switched off though, sadly. In fact, sometimes it crashes Jack with it. EDIT: I stand cor...

Re: Myriad of problems....

Ah, ok, I'll change those ;-) I only ran it as sudo as it complained about not having rights to output the file, so rather than fix it, I took the easy option ;-) card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 0: ALC880 Analog [ALC880 Analog] Subdevices: 0/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 1: M1010LT [M Audio ...

Re: Myriad of problems....

 Sorry!

Code: Select all

/usr/bin/jackd -v -R -P1 -dalsa -dhw:1 -r44100 -p1024 -n2 -Xseq

I should have realised that "~" - I must look like a real newbie!

Re: Myriad of problems....

Hmmm...I get nothing if I type that into a terminal. Just sits there doing nothing with a cursor flashing. dave@ubuntustudio:~$ cat - /.jackdrc I do, however have a video of Rakarrack crashing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftLsp0buTH8 I have Compiz on in this, but I get the same results with it of...

Re: Myriad of problems....

Well.....I think I built it. It seemed to compile. However, it's now more unstable than it was. I get this after a few seconds: dave@ubuntustudio:~/Desktop/rak/rakarrack$ rakarrack rakarrack 0.5.8_Equinox - Copyright (c) Josep Andreu - Ryan Billing - Douglas McClendon - Arnout Engelen Try 'rakarrack...

Re: Myriad of problems....

Actually, I'm quite intrigued to compile it myself, I'll have a go tonight (after installing the automake package); hopefully I won't need to trouble you to update the PPA.

Re: Myriad of problems....

I couldn't get it to compile from git or cvs - some files are not found when I run the autogen script, I will post more detailed info later when I get to my machine, but it DID compile from the tarball on the sourceforge site - presumably this is the same version as the cvs/git repos? EDIT - this is...

Re: Myriad of problems....

Wow! Thanks guys, I need some time to take this in! My brother-in-law is hosting his radio show at the moment, when it finished it's time for bed, so I'll get back to it tomorrow ;-) However, it shouldn't be the processor - there's two dual core AMD Opterons and 8 gb of ram. I'm hoping not in any ca...

Re: Myriad of problems....

I've compiled Rakarrack from source (cvs and git don't compile btw) and now Rakarrack is working. Still a few issues though. I have to change the preset before using it, or it will crash after 3-4 seconds, but overall I can use it now - although only for a few minutes before it crashes ;-) Still a b...
