Reaper:

QUANT 0
RATE 0
WAIT 9..12us
BUSY 150..200us
W/Q 0,00
B/Q 0,01

Where are these from?

Re: MIDI negative latency

Is that all you have in your ~/.config/pipewire directory and file? What about pw-top - what settings are actually being used? Have you tried node.lock-quantum = true? Where did you find this: node.rate = 1/44100? I can't see that listed in the documentation https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pipewire/p...

Re: MIDI negative latency

What settings are you using for pipewire? What does pw-top report for ardour/reaper?

Re: Hello from Arch

FWIW I already do have a bunch of eurorack, so the only annoying part on that side would be figuring out the audio routing, but I imagine it should be possible to even have another audio interface that has lots of inputs/outputs and only use it for sends/returns with eurorack and wire that up with ...

Re: Hello from Arch

There are a bunch of VSTs/LV2s on linux but you can also use yabridge (or another bridge) for Windows VSTs.

Eurorack would definitely give you much higher quality and much more interesting effects, and I can fully recommend it, but it's a pricey venture.

Re: Metadata (Composer) in Media Players

mpd has support for composer and performer. Cantata, an mpd client, can also use it for certain genres in place of artist.

I'm not sure about CD ripping but if I use puddletag for tagging/renaming/organising. Beets is also very powerful and well worth looking into.

Re: Album at Bandcamp: The Windward Side Of the Heart

Cool, I'll check those albums out. I mostly listen to darker ambient but for some reason what comes out when I make it is less dark a lot of the time. I don't have any videos, I'm not really a media creator besides music. My rack is here though if you're interested to see what I'm using https://www....

Re: Album at Bandcamp: The Windward Side Of the Heart

I echo what Folderol said, sounds lovely from what I listened to but will take a while to get through! That's not a bad thing though, I'm certainly not opposed to long ambient leaning tracks. I like the different textures you weave through the tracks, they all have a very distinct character but mesh...

Very nice track with great synth sound design. I love the slightly exotic scale used.

Re: Bitwig - why doesn't it work with JACK/PipeWire MIDI/audio?

If you want to send audio out somewhere else then create a bus and choose where to send it, as you figured out and then do routing as usual. I don't know what raysession is but I don't see any issue sending to other jack apps. Screenshot_20231120_204223.png My config: Screenshot_20231120_203945.png

Re: Bitwig - why doesn't it work with JACK/PipeWire MIDI/audio?

For midi you need to use

Code: Select all

options snd_virmidi midi_devs=1

in /etc/modprobe.d/ and then route it through that.
Audio works fine for me, I can see carla in Bitwig's track output routing.

What do you mean? The audio works perfectly fine and I do stuff in midi with it all the time.

Re: New ambient EP

Thanks for listening @folderol and @Impostor. Imposter, yes, definitely a different direction. Interesting about the contentedness, I guess that probably rings true into wider life but perhaps was temporary because I'm back to making darker stuff right now :)
