Re: best distro for pro studio?
I have yet to see more apps available for buntu than arch or the other top OS.. from my studies of why buntu is so popular is that it was created for folks coming from the Windows world... one of the key this that make linux different is that you can compile an app to suit your needs... arch is the ...

Re: best distro for pro studio?
I just installed archbang and buntu studio.... all on same box(removal drives)... both took just as long to configure but archbang was at least 2x faster.. without RT kernel, got jack at frames/period= 128 latency=5.33msec. ran ardour, hydrogen together with no xruns. both frustrated me as I added a...

Re: A fresh start for LMMS
well like Paul said, LMMS has faults that he's trying to fix. I like LMMS. was angry that it worked better on XP than on Linux but not anymore... Works way better on my arch box. with soundfonts, we don't need hydrogen kits involved do we? I think the drum-tab editor would do fine but as Paul said, ...

Re: A fresh start for LMMS
was thinking the same because LMMS was based on the original FL I think, right Paul?
I don't know how close you wanna get to that but something like FL studio is really needed for Linux..

Re: A fresh start for LMMS
that's some amazing news...
I've used LMMS many times but yeah, without jack was frustrating...
I don't have a clue on how to program but will be more than willing to be a tester.
a drum editor would be real cool. Drawing a blank at the moment but will add ideas as you go along..

Re: Impulse convolver/guitarix
Didn't understand you here, , you can bypass guitarix engine, (press "b"), but that mean that the input simply copy to the output, without processing the guitarix engine (include the convolution engine). That could surly change to bypass guitarix engine and process convolution engine only...

Re: Impulse convolver/guitarix
brummer, I'm liking it... only thing is my old presets lost their tone... I noticed now in qjackctl that you don't see jconvolver, only guitarix.. is that right? also notice that guitarix sounds great without IR files which brings up a question. Guitarix now runs like my digitech RP90 pedal in which...

Re: best distro for pro studio?
One of the things about Arch is that you need to embrace the terminal/ command line. However, really with any Linux distro you want to tune for audio you'll have to become comfortable with the terminal and modifying config files. Arch is no different from any other distro except for speed. KDE just...
