Re: Open source singing synth.

If it's fitting to your style of music try using a vocoder (for example TAL vocoder from DISTRHO ports). It won't sound natural, but neither do these vocal synths to my ears.

Re: Libre Music Challenge #19: Odin 2

Hey, there. I took part in LMC #3 way back. so here's my grumpy, totally subjective feedback: (I've also submitted the points on the voting site.) Arkforest - Tu Vai Morrer Great sounding track, though I think the kick is much too promiment. Would be great for a fight scene in a cyberpunk shooter. T...

Re: Libre Music Challenge #20: Vitalium

In answer to my own question above: the general feeling on unfa's Rocket Chat libre-music-challenge channel was that, yes, this is ok. --- A heads up for potential participants and Linux DAW users: The LV2 plugin version of Vitalium sometimes (always?) doesn't restore its state correctly when the pr...

Re: Libre Music Challenge #20: Vitalium

Can we use wavetables created from samples, e.g. using text-to-speech to generate a wav file, import that into WaveEdit and export it as a wavetable for Vitalium?

For the voting, we're trying out this new system: https://lmc.nyxkn.org/vote If it's your first time using this, an account will be created on your first login. For the username you have to use the same username that you have here, on linuxmusicians (case-insensitive). I don't get it. Am I supposed...

Re: MGV - Tribute to Gordon Lightfoot

This made me remember another great song from a Canadian about a shrip wreck: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTVKmqTWvJc I actually met Heather when she was in Germany for a few pub concerts we organized for her when that album came out. And then there's of course Stand Roger's "The Flowers of...

Re: The four winter video+music

Petrodvorets in winter 2023. Walking video sketches in the Lower Park of Peterhof, filmed in the winter of 2023, voiced by the author's guitar improvisation 'The little bird'.

I liked that one. But in the video the overused fast zooms are a bit jarring

Re: Transfer Point: Unit Circle (Around My Heart)

Very well done, but not my cup of tea stylistically, too sugar-y-sweet.

But I commend you for using the "Not In Love" vocal pad technique. I always wanted to try that out myself sometime.

Re: ('Twas a) Ghast Christmas

Excellent mood in this track. But I've you hadn't written it, I would never have guessed that it is a cover of Last Christmas. Not much left of the original song.

Re: Schwinge mein Hertz, du süßer Ton (pseudo-hymn)

Well, at least the photo I have on the soundcloud page for the track was made in a local church. Though I doubt they would let me play there ;) The spacious sound was intentional, since it was supposed to sound like a hymn. I almost always use the LSP Impuls Reverb stereo plugin for my reverbs with ...

Re: Power Over People

I like it! I guess to qualify as synthwave, the drums would have to be a bit more "produced" or synthetic, but as they are they gel well with the guitar.

Re: Landskrona

Very nice composition. The bassoon gives it a "happy and content" feeling. I think the mix could use a bit more work. When the bassoon comes in, it is very loud compared to the harpsichord, and overall the mix is very bass / low-mids heavy. Some master-bus multi.band compression would prob...
