Re: Libre Music Challenge #25: Christmas Windows

Here's my submission for the December 2023 LMC. I rolled last November's and this months challenge into one, since I used only real instruments, my voice and a hardware FM synth and Airwindows plugins. I had this ready on Christmas already, but I wanted to work on it some more afterwards, but I didn...

Re: Rockman guitar sound with FLOSS?

As an alternative to Neural Amp Modeler there's also AIDA-X: https://github.com/AidaDSP/AIDA-X You can train models for AIDA-X with this repo: https://github.com/AidaDSP/Automated-GuitarAmpModelling The link to the cloud hosted training Jupyter notebook given in the AIDA-X readme currently doesn't w...

Re: Rockman guitar sound with FLOSS?

Actually, I found some models for Neural Amp Modeler on Tonehunt: https://tonehunt.org/search-results?search=rockman The "4 Rockman Channels" package also has the two clean channels. They don't include the chorus or echo effect, but I can achieve them with my own chorus and delay plugins: ...

Rockman guitar sound with FLOSS?

Has anyone tried to get those classic eighties Rockman tones using FLOSS? I'm talking the clean tone like on Def Leppard's "Hysteria" or the distortion rhythm tone like on "Pour Some Sugar On Me" or the lead tone on Boston's hits: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2gSo2Vw-gE (Rock...

Re: Libre Music Challenge #25: Christmas Windows

Similar situation here. I have recorded an "unplugged" version of my song (vocals and ukulele) already. I'm hoping to finish it tomorrow by adding (literally) some bells and whistles, so I can send it to friends as a Christmas greeting and post it in the chat. Then I can still polish it up...

So here's my submission, a complete song, written, composed and arranged from scratch.
Black Snow City - Million Pieces

Just listened to your submission. I like it very much.

I think a subtle string arrangement in the background could make it even better.

Sure, it would be possible, but I like the 16th beat as it is :D It gives the song a bit of a feeling of urgency.

Spotlight Kyd - "Parta Eklipso" & "Leaving Tonite" [Electronica, Electro Funk]

Hey, its BandCamp Friday (Artists get 93% revenue share)! So, I finally released my two (CC-by-sa licensed) tracks from my Sonoj 2023 presentation "How to play keyboards like it's 1978" on SoundCloud. https://soundcloud.com/spotlight-kyd/parta-eklipso https://soundcloud.com/spotlight-kyd/l...

Re: Libre Music Challenge #23: Helm

Here are my comments for the submissions of this round. I'm going to try to concentrate my comments not so much on aspects of composition and production this time, but rather on how I feel about the tracks. But don't hold me to that. A-Lin - Rugo I'm a sucker for these kinds of tracks: nice repeatin...

The reason for that is probably this:

Re: Geonkick - logarithmic canvas

I don't quite understand the need for this, TBH. AFAICS, envelopes in Geonkick can have as many points as you like. By inserting enough points it should be possible to approximate a logarithmic or exponential curve close enough, IMHO. But it's open source, so if someone wants to scratch that itch, s...

Re: My sampled pianos

I'm interested in your workflow for creating these sample libraries. Would you be willing to answer some question? I have a Yamaha CP-70B electric grand, which I want to sample at some point and an acquaintance asked me, whether I would be interested in creating an open-licensed sample library from ...

Re: My sampled pianos

I did a small test of these piano libraries just now, and I must say, I'm impressed. Very professionally done, clean, even, and sounding very nice. I recorded a piano-only version of an old piece of mine and rendered it with each of the four different Piano models. I used a Studiologic SL 990 Pro (F...
