Re: KX mini manual

KMix, it is fully functional as a replacement for alsamixer Unless you have an odd soundcard, like one of the 5 gazillion Intel HDA variants... or use optical SPDIF, or HDMI or something.... In which case it might just do weird stuff that alsamixer never does. I dunno guys, it's up to you, but.... ...

Re: KX mini manual

(un)muting and controlling devices with kmix, Should probably be *with alsamixer. kmix is a control interface that works with various backends and uses it's clever magic with some user configurable options, to figure out which one to control. While the phonon and/or pulseaudio and/or alsa backends ...

FWIW, I too will be looking at this, and following it to a fix, because I need it working too. Sorry I haven't had a chance to test it yet, but I'll be with you shortly.

Re: Package requests here! (New and updates)

FWIW: NVidia 313.26 is supposedly fixed for kernels 3.7+ The XOrg edgers PPA has a package for it. Tried it with 3.8.0.14 and 3.8.0.12 kernels. No joy, the DKMS module build process generates an error which states that the kernel version is not supported, and does not attempt to compile. (Note: kern...

There is a patch. I haven't tried it yet but I know it's out there and others are using it.

Re: Anyone using Pulse under KX?

So, I was all like...Whoa... I never knew that.

Code: Select all

alsa_out -d bluetooth -p 3072 -n 2
works for me. Yay!

I doubt it's abilities as a master backend, but, that's fair enough ;)

Edit: You'll need to install bluez-alsa and reboot first. Probably should have mentioned that!

Re: Anyone using Pulse under KX?

My very opinionated opinion: Pulse is junk and hardly anyone running KX will need it anyway. Definitely document it if you like, but make it low priority, as your time and effort is valuable and rare :) Because KX does it right, pulse sits on top of JACK (not the other way round as many distros do i...

Also, 256 frames may be adventurous for testing. Take it back to one of the supported USB interface frame sizes (see other thread on here) closer to the default 1024.

Re: KX mini manual

I thought it was just one of those "look, there's so much about this already, let's not add any more" statements with no productive purpose. My bad, sorry it came across that way. I have far too much respect for the members of this community to behave like that. I never wanted to suggest ...

Re: KX mini manual

As important as I personally believe the matter to be, and as simple as free beer/free speech/ etc may seem to some of us, it's foreign and confusing to most newcomers. I think it's best left for a separate page, which people can check if they care about/understand the subject. First, a separate pa...

So lets see what is loaded on your system: open a terminal window and type: aplay -l and post the results. Then type: dmesg | grep -i firewire and post the results. Also look in synaptic and see if you have these packages installed (quickfilter ffado): jackd-firewire ffado-tools ffado-mixer-qt4 ffa...
