Re: rt-kernel and instability?

I have no idea where to turn, I'd be so very happy to pay for assistance (even though I'm not well off so to say) but who can help? I don't know anyone besides the forums I use... We live in southern Sweden, have a good friend that's good with Linux but he's only into Ubuntu Studio I think and that...

Re: Ubuntu PPA for *all* Linux Multimedia stuff

Great work so far :D

Some suggestions for more packages:

Dino (MIDI Sequencer) http://dino.nongnu.org/
SoftWerk (MIDI Pattern Sequencer) http://sourceforge.net/projects/softwerk/

Re: A couple of new plugins

Agreed, there aren't that many compared to Windows. There are Linux versions of the MDA plugins (loads of effects, and a couple of instruments) - these are good and have been open sourced. Some are more useful than others, but it depends on your needs. The Loomer VSTs I have tried have been very goo...

Re: A couple of new plugins

Native means you do not need to use DSSI or FST with Wine to run the plugins - they just work out of the box (in a host that supports Native Linux VST, such as Qtractor or Renoise) as they are Linux specific versions.

A couple of new plugins

KVR have mentioned a couple of new native Linux VST plugins in the last few days. KResearch has announced a native Linux version of their free KR-Reverb FS plug in, KVR announcement here: http://www.kvraudio.com/news/13166.html Secondly, Loomer have announced a new plugin, String, which is an emulat...

New HybridReverb

I haven't tried it yet, but it is part of the KVR developer challenge:

http://www.kvraudio.com/developer_chall ... hp#dc09_27

I think it's the only entry that runs on Linux :(

I intend to try it out in the next week or so.

Re: VST hosts

For Native VSTs I use the Loomer plugins (www.loomer.co.uk) and the MDA native Linux versions. The most reliable host I have found is (and I know it's commercial software) Renoise. Rock solid. I've tried numerous times with Qtractor, but have never found my session last more than 30 mins without a c...

Sure, go for it. I hope to write quite a lot about Linux Audio (if I'm not too busy making music!).

Ok, I'll see what I can do.

Re: release of three new VSTs for Linux

Well I've tried out Aspect (which is the synth VST) and it is very good. So good I couldn't resist buying it. I've done a very brief review http://lescannoniers.blogspot.com/2009/03/loomer-aspect-vst-for-linux.html One thing to watch out for is the prices on their web site don't include VAT, w...

Re: Updating Rosegarden

That worked, although it wasn't plain sailing - after running the rosegarden-data deb, it complained about dependency problems. Running 'sudo apt-get install -f' fixed it, although it still threw up a message saying it was going to remove ubuntustudio-audio. I was then able to install the main roseg...

Updating Rosegarden

Hi Guys, I have installed the Ubuntu Studio packages on Ubuntu 8.04, but I want to update the Rosegarden package. I have a deb of version 1.7 from getdeb. I want to remove the current Rosegarden package before installing the new one, but Synaptic tells me it will remove the ubuntustudio-audio packag...
