Thanks, SR! I appreciate hearing your perspective. I'm happy to report that I think I've successfully installed Linux Mint KDE w/ KXStudio, and I used RedoBackup (super tool, very happy) to make a backup in case I mess anything up again. We'll see how it goes. So far, all is smooth!
