Re: Allen&Heath Qu-16 crunchy audio

It is surely also not the linux kernel. A kernel patch is what solved this issue. I would seriously expecting then that everything is working again, Each user ends their posts by stating their system is working after the kernel patch, and the latest post came years later from a user who is using a ...

Re: The Class Compliant Audio complaint rant (coining "OSA-CCA")

I am curious how far your plans for this have been extended. I assume you will be directing the committee, but what other committee roles will be needed and what will their functions be? What will your website provide? Will it mainly focus on defining the requirements, or will you have other resourc...

Re: Which Linux Distro should i choose for Music production 2021

jesus I explained to you and I do it again , especially for youuuhuuuu: install kernel, forget to tell grub and your system is totally bricked, you will need another live boot media to be able to repair the system. I have never had this happen to me on a Debian system, but ok. However, this has not...

Re: Which Linux Distro should i choose for Music production 2021

okay, girls and boys and loving creatures, lets get back to reality. Linux Kernel is quite fast, as long as you dont need lowest possible latencies, debian based distributions should be okay for y'all. I am not sure where you think this thread derailed from reality, nor do I understand your reasoni...

Re: Xruns on Kubuntu/KX

If I understand it correctly, 'usb' refers to a USB soundcard, and 'snd' refers to the built-in soundcard (Intel HDA, Realtek, etc). When I use my Behringer interface, merely switching 'usb' to the first name in the list gives it the highest IRQ priority when I check the rtirq status.

Re: RTIRQ: My OS only has USB3 driver but I'm using a USB2 interface

I have a USB 2.0 device plugged into a USB3 port, and this works fine for me:

RTIRQ_NAME_LIST="usb snd"

Re: Xruns on Kubuntu/KX

https://github.com/rncbc/rtirq The config file is typically /etc/rtirq.conf or in my case /etc/default/rtirq My relevant setting is: RTIRQ_NAME_LIST="snd usb i8042" Since I use a USB interface when recording at low latencies and do not have a firewire device, mine looks like this: RTIRQ_N...

Re: linuxdaw.org - listing quality audio software for linux

I don't think it is maintained anymore, but the binaries still work per a recent install I completed. It appears to me the dev essentially considered the project finished after the latest release. I saw on the Ardour forums there is a patch needed to build the plugins from source with recent kernels...

Re: Modern DSP audio interface for Linux?

I have been waiting around for a while for someone to comment on the RME OctaMic XTC. From its literature, it would appear to function on Linux in Class Compliant mode, and although the Total Mix application wouldn't work on Linux, it appears that all functions can be accessed via the hardware. It i...

Re: Fedora - Anyone use it for music?

@GuntherT Thankyou for that detailed and easy to follow description :) I've noted that down and will likely end up running through all of those steps one day this week. However, I became curious about what that 'realtime-setup' package would do and so I gave it a go because if that's all I have to ...

Re: Fedora - Anyone use it for music?

Pretty much all that is needed to setup realtime audio on a modern Linux distribution is the following: Create and edit a file called /etc/security/limits.d/audio.conf. The file must contain (at least) the following two lines: @audio - rtprio 95 @audio - memlock unlimited Add your user to the audio ...

Re: XUiDesigner v0.9 released

This is a neat program! I was able to create a GUI for the CAPS AmpVTS plugin, and I possess no programming skills. My first creation is pretty bland in my opinion, but with more practice and time, I think a future attempt could end up looking pretty slick. I was wondering, though, is there a way to...
