Re: Windows midi-morphing VST in Carla / some other?

Has anyone any hints on this, would it be possible to use some Windows VST in Carla which is generating midi? Where to output that, to same Carla or to some other program, that is not so much relevant.

Windows midi-morphing VST in Carla / some other?

Hi! I was browsing free VST, and found interesting midi-plugins. Midi in, some other midi out. For example: http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?plugin=Harmony_Rotator&id=1556 Is it me who can't use Carla properly, or is there some problem using such VST in Carla? I could see plugin getting midi...

Re: Sample based synth with pitch change, playing samples in original velocity

so I think your only option is to use rubberband or similar to do a (time preserving) pitch shift to generate all the notes you want offline, then you can put them into a SFZ or make an sf2 with swami or whatever. Yes, that's most likely the situation. Remaining question is, what would be command-l...

Re: Sample based synth with pitch change, playing samples in original velocity

have some samples which are oscilating type, and having same tempo on that oscilation in any key played is important. So you want a player that does "pitch shifting" to transpose the pitch, and then "time stretching" to restore the original tempo (and ideally the timbre/tone). F...

Re: Sample based synth with pitch change, playing samples in original velocity

He could manually create pitch-shifted samples for every key in a SFZ, of course. Cut'n'paste, cut'n'paste... :) If you think that's a lot of work try building a keyboard. Naah, writing script doing it is not bad job, specially if SFZ is text-based format. Petri-foo save format is also text, so tha...

Re: Sample based synth with pitch change, playing samples in original velocity

Sounds like writing an SFZ might work. Give it a try with just mapping one or two samples to test. Its not too hard to write your own just looking at some examples. There are lots of examples here: http://www.bandshed.net/sounds/sfz/ and here's one I wrote (the text file is at the bottom of the pos...

It's only the 1st post for new users that needs to be approved, at least in theory. After your account has had an approved post, you should be able to post without issues. I have now 1 new thread, and dozen replys. Editing my own post results message 'your post will be reviewed' or something like t...

Re: Hello from Finland!

...got their workflow better by simply using Ardour sequencer and some samples, since the samples were to be introduced to the midi track after Hydrogen anyway to get decent sounds. Do I understand correctly, that point was to use drum samples, instead of hydrogen driving beat? So the real problem ...

Re: Sample based synth with pitch change, playing samples in original velocity

Have you tried/considered writing SFZs for it and using linuxsampler? I'm think SFZ/LS has all the capability you yearn for, but it may not be as convenient as you need (i.e. edit file, reload, repeat, etc). I'm now doubting everything I thought I knew about samplers. :| Don't know for SFZ, does it...

it was a counter-measure against the huge amount of spam we got here. things seem to be slightly better with the phpbb update, but there's still new spammers every 1-2 days. :( Yes, I perfectly understand reason and I'm not questioning this procedure. I just want to know if this is for all / should...

No, it does change of key in tradiotional (easier) way, playing samples faster. Octave higher is double speed.

Big majority of sample-based synths work that way.

Ok, that might be barely on budget. Edit: price did not include VAT, so bit too much for me.

No, does not do what I want.

Re: Hello from Finland!

Hi Ooppeli, I'm from Finland also! I need an easy DAW with audio and MIDI. I guess most Linux DAWs will do, I started with Ardour. Easy & DAW, does not sound familiar. Or maybe if you have used some DAW before, then it's possible. Ardour is common, and available, so that is not at all bad option...

Re: Sample based synth with pitch change, playing samples in original velocity

You might try the Bliss sampler demo. It has a range of options, and the linux version works well. It's also on sale now. http://www.discodsp.com/ Thanks for suggestion! Unfortunately, even with discounts, I feel it's out of my budget (89€ with our VAT). One option would be create samples by changi...
