Re: Carla crash with too many SFZs loaded
Yes standalone linuxsampler seems stable as far as I can tell. Currently I'm experimenting with loading each SFZ in a separate application instance, and restarting an instance when it crashes. A sort of bridge mode. This keeps the main program instance stable at least and the user just perceives a d...

Re: Carla crash with too many SFZs loaded
falkTX, I notice with the latest version of Carla that loading SFZs is increasingly unstable. It often crashes now, "easier" than before, even when not loading the same SFZ files more than once. Previously, crashes weren't so prevalent, but now I'll get a crash about 80% of the time when l...

Re: MIDI piano + sustain pedal realism
It's interesting that you mention the sustain pedal intricacies, something I haven't been paying attention to really. I can't think of much more for you to try regarding getting the right sound. What I can suggest is a better interface and easy fast access to sf2 soundfonts, gig and sfz files with t...

Will look into that, maybe only next week when I have some free time again.

Re: Carla crash with too many SFZs loaded
I was playing around with this again and noticed that crashes are prone to happen when two or more of the same SFZs are loaded in one Carla (backend) instance. If I load one SFZ and bombard it with notes from VMPK, everything is fine. As soon as I load a second of the same SFZ, it crashes after a sh...

Re: Midi to keystrokes?
You might be able to achieve that using Mididings for processing MIDI, and then some Python module like PyAutoGUI.

Re: Greetings from Latvia + a noob question
Basically, I just want to be able to play it To just be able to make some noise, here are some considerations. (Not sure how much you know about Linux Audio, JACK, etc, so I'll note some of the basics): Firstly, when you connect your MIDI device to your PC, it will show up as an ALSA MIDI device. Y...

Re: full update .. no hardware midi devices in carla
You could try installing a2jmidid if it's not installed already, then run it as a2jmidid -e See if the hardware MIDI ports pop up in Carla. (-u is also a useful option) Alternatively, while you're waiting for KXStudio 18, you could try out the new AVLinux that was just released. It uses Xfce by defa...

Re: Live Keyboard rig - Carla and Jack_Mixer
You could replace jack_mixer with Ardour with a track per instrument and all track outputs sending to Calf Reverb, then learn MIDI CC to the Ardour track volumes. You'll have to connect your MIDI CC output to the Ardour MIDI Control input, and enable generic MIDI control surface in Ardour preference...

Re: Jack Interface Numbering?
Hardware MIDI devices are handled by ALSA and are made avaiable to JACK via some kind of bridge. For instance, I use "a2jmidid -ue" to make the devices visible in JACK. The "e" option ensures that hardware devices are bridged (i.e. your MIDI controller); The "u" option ...

Re: Qtractor for live setup
You have a few options to switch between patches (i.e. change where MIDI is sent): Mididings http://das.nasophon.de/mididings/ Specifically look at scenes, and the Livedings interface. MIDI Layer https://sourceforge.net/projects/midi-layer/ Backupband If I am not mistaken, I read somewhere that Jeff...

Re: Commercial Carla clone "Gig Performer 2"
The placement and title of this topic was quite misleading, I was rather disappointed to find out, after several minutes of frantically scrutinizing the linked article and product web page, that this is a Windows/Mac only product. I hear what pianopaul means about it being a very capable, profession...

Re: Carla midi trigger
Ardour allows automating tracks Mute (and Solo) which could help you. 1. Enable the Generic MIDI control surface: Preferences --> Control Surfaces: Enable "Generic MIDI" 2. Connect the MIDI output port of Linux Show Player, from where the MIDI triggers will be sent, to the MIDI control in ...
