Re: [ANN] Vee One Suite 0.8.4 - A Late-Summer'17 release
padthV1 is awesome, not something to be understood overnight, full of surprises, and not something that will gather dust. Thanks for the rpms. There may be a vst scanning regression in qtractor. I have an up-to-date Mint 18. Scanning vsts, U-he and discoDSP in .vst, is very hit-and-miss. Sometimes n...

Re: Do 64 bit VST's work in Linux?
@linuxmusician01 congrats on successes! 'prefix' is a longstanding but poor choice for the title of a .wine folder* You apparently can have multiple wine folders (prefixes), like one for games, one for graphics, one for audio etc, At one time I had a wine from the ubuntu repository, and a separate w...

Re: Do 64 bit VST's work in Linux?
But I couldn't for the life of me get Qtractor, LMMS or Carla to recognise the .so no matter where I put it. I think that ZynbubFX is a Linux VST so I placed the dll and so files into that same directory, but my DAW's dit not show the 64 bit VST's. I suggested Reaper, because it is far and away the...

aplay -l arecord -l aconnect -i aconnect -o The output of these commands will show the detected audio devices named within brackets, or '_' card 1: M2496 [M Audio Audiophile 24/96], device 0: ICE1712 multi [ICE1712 multi] 'Midi Through Port-0' In qjackctl, these names will be the ones to select or i...

Re: Ingen + Guitarix
Hello all, I build a lot of synths with ingen and the ams.lv2 plugins (the port of the AlsaModularSynth to lv2) and I was thinking of adding Guitarix behind it to jazz the sound up. You'll soon find some great 'gain staging' combinations, with distortions and modulations that can be nuanced, or out...

Re: Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 on Linux help!
Hello, Gulliver! This command makes reaper5 an executable: sudo chmod +x /home/you/.550RC6/REAPER/reaper5 Adjust it for your actual reaper location. Double-click reaper5, and in the popup, choose 'run reaper in terminal', which will start without further action. This is handy, so If something freeze...

Re: Do 64 bit VST's work in Linux?
Windows Reaper in wine can host 64 bit windows vsts. Use wine-staging from wineHQ, for best results. https://www.winehq.org/ They have a repository to be added to synaptic debian/ubuntu systems. Uninstalling an existing wine first will simplify things for now. Try the stable HQ version first, and if...

Re: Paul Davis at LAC 2017
You should run for office. I have no idea what you mean by that. You could bring some honest common sense to some juurisdiction. Too many office holders are, or become forked tongue two-faced scammers, bent only on taking power and freedom from the individual, and vesting it on the state. I see lin...

Re: Paul Davis at LAC 2017
as for me, linux is just the best, because it's the only system nowadays, that allows one to build a rig in a modular, i mean really modular fashion. Bitwig, Mixbus and Reaper, among others, all offer some unique and valuable content and capabilites, which when one is aware of, their outputs can be...

Re: Paul Davis at LAC 2017
I agree linux is easier than is presented in win/mac fanboi mythologies. Heat up that command line, and the snowflakes melt in seconds, without a thought to the powers at hand  Actually I've found plugins quite stable, they mostly just work, and daws are usually OK for basic multi-track record...

Re: padthv1 - a vee-one suite newb
Since a large green kompilosaurus lizard apparently ate the rpm's that Rui usually releases, I had to go scrounging for a .deb, and found one here: http://www.stockinger.org/musik.html The irony started getting thick real fast, as Qtractor segfaulted when it loaded, but linux Reaper hosted it fine w...

Re: How to use Carla?
I see 'Program\ Files' in your listing. Is there some syntax reason for the backslash being there? Never seen it like that before. I see command lines using quotes to bypass spaces, like wine /home/you/.wine/drive_c/"Program Files/VstPlugIns/Dimension Pro/Dimension Pro x64.exe" Anyway, I'v...

Re: Paul Davis at LAC 2017
My guess is that it's not a moneymaker, and will be low in priority
as long as both versions work, and Mixbus remains a moneymaker.
Strictly a guess.
Cheers
