Today I installed iLok to ubuntu 18.04 running Wine Staging (wine-5.20) and no problems.

It looks like working, have run 2 plugins which need iLok.

I also like geonkick. But it is opensource, someone else can continue development.

Most likely not what you are looking for, but sfz has opcode loop_type and that can be 'alternate'.

For sfz, I would try sfizz or liquidsfz, and linuxsampler as last resort.
