Re: My KVR 'What stops you switching to Linux' thread
a lot of stuff from Windows can be ported to linux well through Wine, so that should be of help. Maybe, but there's still no good way to run Windows VSTs inside Ardour. Carla-Rack LV2 can be a solution, but not yet. Ardour-VST is extremely unstable, so I won't recommend it even to biggest enemy of ...

Only reason why I still may need Pulseaudio is for skype my pulseaudio-jack bridge didn't work at all. (tried to do this with jam-control without good results) You can fix Pulseaudio problem by installing jackdbus. Bridge won't work without this package. Also, there's an awesome article on ArchWiki...

Re: switched distribution and now soundcard won't get recogn
The last time I installed the KXStudio repos my CUPS package got messed up what ended in not being able to print anything and my LV2 plugins wouldn't show up anywhere. How did you do that? KXStudio is rock solid, one should be very talented to break it that easy. I was looking into the Focusrite Sc...

Making Fedora a DAW isn't a good idea at all. It barely has packages necessary for real work. I suggest you to use KXStudio or ArchLinux instead since they provide software you need.

You didn't set up JACK properly. Choose your AudioBox as input for JACK.snell wrote:I recently purchased an AudioBox 22VSL and I cannot get Ardour to record from the AudioBox instead of my laptop's internal microphone.

Do you have wineasio and pacthed wine (wine-rt)? If you don't then it's expected.waterpump wrote:Doesn't appear to work with Reaper under WINE though

It should not because +48V switch is hardware. Then it's a hardware issue.CrocoDuck wrote:Did using linux void the warranty?

Re: My KVR 'What stops you switching to Linux' thread
this is good advice often i find that spending more time than is actually needed either results in something that was no better or sometimes worse than what it started out as. Definitely, yes. Two hours in a row is the maximum for a sound engineer. Having a rest every 1.5 - 2 hours is necessary. An...

Re: My KVR 'What stops you switching to Linux' thread
Don't waste your life spending months on trying to get a single song perfect Currently I'm working on three projects at a time. Maybe two of them will merge into one, but anyway it's not the "single song". It's a full-length pop-rock album, a kinda prog/math-rock EP and a stoner metal EP ...

Re: Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 Help (please)
The only way that I could get the scralett to work was to turn off wifi. Not sure what the relation was but it worked with wifi off. This usually happens if you have a USB 3.0 host controller. I had the similar issue on my laptop, but in my case wi-fi just caused series of xruns. The interface work...

Re: My KVR 'What stops you switching to Linux' thread
Don't underestimate the kind of musicians who spend lots of their time playing around with DAWs, effects, compressors and reverbs and produce hardly one song. You're goddamn right. Currently I'm one of this kind, and there's a huge reason: I don't wanna depend on some sound engineer when recording ...

According to this thread on Reaper's forum: http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=82910, they work on Linux version at least since 2011. If you're interested, you can download it here: http://www.landoleet.org/dev/.lazyklimm wrote:I heard it a couple years ago

As far I know now, it's quite hard (or maybe even impossible) to run PT on Linux? Or will it be able to run for example via VirtualBox etc/other app? I'd like to say even more. It's unnecessary while it's still totally impossible. PT is written for Mac and Win, so run it on Mac and Win. There's Ard...

As I've heard, Reaper will release for Linux natively in near future. Nothing to worry about.Snap wrote:It's a shame that Reaper has not a native Linux version.

Re: My KVR 'What stops you switching to Linux' thread
ive manged to get a pretty convincing bass guitar tone from an acoustic guitar If you read my posts (you seem not to do it), then you'll probably notice that I didn't ever asked about making artificial bass tones. I need to process a real bass. That means that I have a fiver, play it, record DI tra...
