Guitar Tablature Editors

I just wrote a review of my experience using Tux Guitar and MuseScore to write guitar tablature. My main conclusion is that Tux Guitar has a better notation palette for tablature, but that MuseScore has a better interface and produces more beautiful scores. I hope you find it useful: https://alansan...

Re: A First Look at LMMS

Re: Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 on Linux

The alsa_out command definitely works from the command line, and that will be very useful. Thanks for showing that to me. Strangely, the "Interface" field on the qjackctl settings window is greyed out. That is why I had to dig deeper and find the Output Device and Input Device settings on ...

folderol: Thank you so much for your kind words. My music is never complicated. :) I'm glad you enjoyed it. ufug: I'm not half the guitarist Bill Frisell is, but I'm flattered. I wasn't familiar with him, but I've been listening to him on YouTube this afternoon and I like his style a lot. I need to ...

Re: Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 on Linux

Thank you for the reference. I will play with that tonight and see if I can get option #1 working. If so then I will revise the article.

But in my case of using the same device as input and output, isn't that using the same clock? How can I get clock drift using my setup?

gennaro: Thank you for your thoughts and feedback. I hope to keep the songs coming. forestandgarden: Thank you also for your thoughts. I am an old fan of analog synthesizers. Kraftwerk has been a favorite band since I was a teenager. I also spent hours and hours listening to 1960's modular synthesiz...

Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 on Linux

I just wrote a review and basic tutorial for how to get the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB audio interface working on a Linux home studio: https://alansanderson.band/2017/09/04/f ... me-studio/

It is not overly technical, and is definitely aimed at newbies. Enjoy!
