Re: OpenSource non-linux plugins out there?

Here are some open source ones: This is a Jun06 emulator, http://sourceforge.net/projects/juno6/ There's a bunch here, although the site mentions they were created using some Delphi framework, so not sure how possible it is to port these http://www.savioursofsoul.de/Christian/vst-plugins/effect-plug...

Re: Why VST plugins?

There is a very large number of VST developers out there, why not encourage the good ones to port their stuff to Linux? Like it or not, a major attraction to using Linux for making music to your average user will be what plugins are available. The two VSTs I use the most are Loomer's Aspect and Stri...

Inear Display VSTs

Saw this mentioned on KVR, they have released 3 of their sound mangling plugins for Linux (including 1 free one).

This looks like a lot of fun, but I'm under the impression that Loomer's Sequent is a less expensive and more flexible version of the same concept, no?
Appears to be £10 cheaper than Sequent.

I'll try downloading the demo and using it in Renoise.

Re: Is there an app...?

I would guess that each synth's parameters respond in a different way, which would make this quite hard to do, and make the numbers quite meaningless. As an example, one synth might have a maximum attack time of 10 seconds, and another synth a maximum of 15 seconds. If you read a file that has a val...

Re: why VST version of plugs that have LV2?

I agree with you wholeheartedly (I help develop some free software on Linux :D ). Even though A/V software has progressed a lot in the last couple of years on Linux there is still some way to go, and if I was to limit myself to free tools only I would struggle to do what I want to do. But I made the...

Re: why VST version of plugs that have LV2?

It may be a non-free format, but that doesn't mean the user shouldn't have the choice to use it. I use Renoise (obviously non-free, supports VST/Ladspa but not LV2) because I find it the most complete solution for my needs on Linux. But I also use free software when I find something useful. I'm happ...

Re: new synth: vModSynth

hopefully it proves more reliable than AMS Just curious, is AMS notoriously unstable? I admit I've only done relatively simple patches, but its been really good for me. This project does look cool though. His patch cables defy gravity! It was never reliable for me - it would usually crash before I ...

Re: new synth: vModSynth

The documentation (which is very good BTW) quotes an expected latency of 6ms, and probably less if you use a low latency/real time kernel.

It looks like a very well thought out design, hopefully it proves more reliable than AMS.

I can't wait to try it out, I love modular synths :)

Re: useless and/or spam accounts

The forum software allows users to be pruned, e.g. any accounts that have zero posts AND are more than 3 moths old. A couple of other forums I use do this.

Re: Spammers working overtime

http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=2122696 suggests a 'Q&A CAPTCHA' works well. I am the administrator of a phpbb3 forum that was practically destroyed by spam, with literally hundreds of posts per day. The Q&A CAPTCHA solved the problem completely. It was very easy to ...

I tried AMS in the past and never found it reliable on my system.

These days, I use real Modular Synths :D
