Re: hints for stable setup for jack + linuxsampler + pd HELP

It's more than likely the pcmcia card. I've read tons of stories on how the majority of those cards are garbage for linux/music work.

Re: M Audio Delta 1010LT with AV Linux

I use a behringer headphone amp in my delta 1010 setup. It even passes through the signal to monitors on it's A input.

Re: hints for stable setup for jack + linuxsampler + pd HELP

Mon May 26 17:44:27 2014: ERROR: firewire ERR: Could not prepare streaming device! That's your first error. And the biggest thing. I pretty much gave up on firewire in my setup. What I've found is it really has to do with the firewire firmware and chipsets. Some firewire gear works better than othe...

Re: hints for stable setup for jack + linuxsampler + pd HELP

Run all your programs including jack from a terminal. That way you have logs of what caused the issue.

Re: calf from git- ardour issues - plugins removed

If you want to keep the git versions you'll probably just have to put new plugins in the chain of all your tracks, in all the songs you're using calf stuff in. I hope someone else has a better answer for you but I believe this is it.

Re: Tracktion5 has arrived

I'm talking about in Linux. Hence why I'm amazed that Reason is more stable under wine/wineasio in linux than it is on windows!

Re: Tracktion5 has arrived

And yes I was complaining about DAW's in general, not specifically on linux. I started on PC. Trained Professionally on Mac, and now am a linux user. So yes, I tried a lot of different DAW's on a lot of different OS's(I trained on Mac in the OS 9 days!) I am very glad that a DAW with your needs has ...

Re: Using your Android device to control Ardour

I used it for quite a while til I got TouchDAW. So easy to set up, and I can't believe it still works even though it was written during Ardour3 alpha 3 years ago with no updates! Great free control app, and I highly recommend it!

Re: clean install of other desktops

You don't have to live with anything. Like I''ve been saying, if you follow the upgrade guide you'll end up with a system just like the ISO. No pulse. Technically it's still there, but totally disabled. The upgrade process doesn't take any longer than waiting for an ISO to download either. Merging 2...

Re: Tracktion5 has arrived

I don't do as much pure electronic music anymore. But I use a lot of synths, samples, and other midi gear just fine with Ardour. I only know about Bitwig what I've read in it's notes, same of Tracktion. There are just WAY too many DAW's out there these day. Compitition is good, it breeds inovation. ...

Re: Tracktion5 has arrived

Finished a very long article on BW yesterday, gotta put screenshots and URLs together for it, then off to the printer. Two months, many hours every day with BW, and I'm still finding neat stuff to do with it. I can't see it replacing Ardour for me, but it has some neat features for the experimental...

Re: clean install of other desktops

The original problem stated was that a DE was downloaded, but it wasn't polished. Which is the case when you just add a DE from repos on top of an existing install. It has no tweaks to the DE, and can be a pain in the butt to get, for the example of the original post, MATE to work as well as a secon...

Re: clean install of other desktops

The thing is all the tweaks and everything that's present in the ISO(except KDE) is exactly what you end up with, with 8 copy and paste terminal commands. Unfortunately you can't have it both ways. That's why there's so many different distro's of Ubuntu. Everyone like's there's tweaked a little diff...

Re: clean install of other desktops

If you want a clean install with other desktops, consider adding kxstudio repos to a well tweaked desktop of choice. I used Linux Mint 13 Cinnamon as a base. If you like MATE, you may want to use Linxu Mint MATE. If you are looking for lightweight, try XFCE edition. If you want a REALLY REALLY low r...

Re: Removing commercial software from the repositories

RPMs are incompatible, all other distros are made by geeks and for geeks
I had never thought of it that way, but I think for the most part you are correct. The few times I've used Fedora and RPM distro's I end up in dependency nightmare!
