Re: 'blast'

Hey, thanx, this is a surprisingly good feedback, and apparantly a testament to the value of freshness, and a workflow with the emphasis on 'flow'. The funny part is how it's my 'work' that's receiving the general praise, when my perception was 'this is play' more than ever before. Ultimately, it's ...

'blast'

Here's another spontaneous one-afternoon-production. Far from perfect, unfinished, noisy mix: http://alooshu.byethost17.com/blast.mp3 , I hope it's making someone tap their feet :)

Re: Who uses jammr.net ?

I still don't have the possibility of online jamming often, due to a shakey and metered mobile connection, but I wanted to share what worked for me, after trying a good number of ninjam (based) clients: I'm running Reaper for linux just to have access to the ReaNinjam plugin that is coming with it, ...

Just a little 'production' work

The story here: a re-discovered musical friend posted this raw guitar sketch with the words "still lacking one fundamental part before I can consider this fully composed", and I took a few sunny hours allowing me to run the laptop, and cut out a riff here and a riff there, to show how fast...

Re: Conflict (Metal Track)

Hey nice, leaves me still hungry when it's finished at 3:05 :) Listening on small device speakers, and even there, the cymbals are rather too far back than standing out. My favorite transition gem is at 2:20, the guitars following could maybe make a little more space - but all of this is in the gree...

Re: Impro / if you need to know how I'm looking

Wow, thanks everybody for the splendid feedback! I'm feeling especially flattered by the compliments for the guitar sound/tone, since all of it is done by free & opensource lv2 plugins, but a lot of tweaking has gone into setting them up. The entire setup is up for downloads in my previous post,...

Re: Android Audio Apps that don't require access to Play Store

F-Droid is having at least 2 apps - Aurora Store and Yalp Store - that aim at faking play accounts and getting stuff from google play itself. F-Droid apps I've been using myself, apart from a metronome and a sight reading trainer, are Slider Synth and Drum On, which in its recent version, can backgr...

Re: Impro / if you need to know how I'm looking

This is great fun, it makes me think of some of the early Pink Floyd stuff. Yea, going slow seems to facilitate more portentous or lyrical playing - although that wasn't planned for, I merely wanted to do my guest a favour & give him a phone recording to take home. And here are the promised Car...

Impro / if you need to know how I'm looking

There's some description with the track. Low-tech hacking in action. https://youtu.be/AjnXJUf_2QU I should add guitarix to the mentions. And later, I can maybe upload the three Carla patches needed to reproduce this setup, best in AVLinux, but probably everywhere with some extra plugins (all free) i...

Re: Last Summer

Hi, since you commented on my salsa7, I took the liberty to dig around in your soundcloud account, and pick one piece at random, which was 'Last Summer'. Here's one from my collection that can connect: https://linx.li/softspring.ogg The 'bass' is again the baritone guitar, i.e. tuned down by a 4th. ...

Re: Salsa sketch in 7/8

Oh well, ambigous phrasing there , "programming and recording" means the percussion was programmed (loading carla-rack vst into reaper, and the sf2 bank found inside GMSynth.lv2 into that), all the rest are recorded guitars, the rhythmic melody (actually the trigger idea) and the bass line...

Salsa sketch in 7/8

It's been a while, here's just some 'rehearsal room recording', errors incl., i.e. jack_capture -mp3 running while I was having fun: https://linx.li/salsa7.mp3 This time, the loops are programmed and recorded with Reaper for linux, running inside Carla, which is also doing the guitar sound, and with...

Re: "space"

Hey, thanks everybody, I'm surprised there is so much feedback! @milo the pitching-in of the synth is desired, Pat Metheny pioneered the idea, ZynAddSubFX allows tweaking many aspects of portamento @lilith, jonetsu ease of mixing is one of the downsides of this modular Carla approach, basically all ...

Re: Chopped & Screwed Hip-Hop/Rap Music

I just followed to the soundcloud player in your homepage, so I could compare original & 'chopped & screwed'. Transposing the song pitch is giving the voice an odd sound, I didn't get all happy with it when I tried the trick myself, 'like ET playing the kazoo' I found my voice was sounding -...
