Re: New Software: Tembro, All-in-one instrument (Sampler or Rompler)

Thanks, I'd already found this out from the post of sunrat previously. But, in the end I ran into the issue that the jack2 version is AVL-MXE does not support metadata, as numerous posts have discussed. So hopefully, jack2 will get updated at some point.

Re: New Software: Tembro, All-in-one instrument (Sampler or Rompler)

I got libcalfbox and tembro to compile in AV-MX21 after installing libsndfile1-dev (don't know why this did not show up in synaptic when I put in sndfile...). However, tembro crashes: $ tembro [tembro] ERROR 2022-04-18 22:58:53,098 template.start: Caught crash in execpthook. Trying too execute atexi...

Re: New Software: Tembro, All-in-one instrument (Sampler or Rompler)

Ok, the compulsory compilation questions: trying to build tembro on AV Linux MX-21. First need to build libcalfbox-lss. Get error: Dependency "sndfile" not found. sndfile is installed but I suppose I need a dev file, but there is no dev file for sndfile. So I am stuck. Suggestions? FYI: AV...

Re: Solo Piano Album - Spring Serenade

Thanks so much for the comments and suggestions. Milo: Glad to hear you and your wife like it. I've noticed this type of mellow music seems to be more appreciated by women. Nils: Thanks for the comparisons to several composers I am not familiar with. I will definitely check them out. I appreciate th...

Re: Rhodes sounds

Pianoteq is also an option. Not free software or cheap, but rather good and native linux. Jeff_g's is stereo rhodes pretty good too.

Re: Solo Piano Album - Spring Serenade

Thank you all for your kind comments. Oscillator: These pieces were recorded live, in multiple takes, and then combining the best takes. Some pieces are completely composed in advance, on others I have main themes worked out, and then after playing through the fixed parts, I improvise over the chord...

Solo Piano Album - Spring Serenade

I've made an album of solo piano music, mostly original semi-classical/mellow material: https://edwarddiehl.bandcamp.com/

Made using AVL-MXE, Mixbus, Pianoteq, LSP impulse response, and OvertoneDSP PTC-2A with ebu-norm to set final LUFS level.

Your link to bipscript is wrong, should be http://www.bipscript.org/. Anyway, nice work on the program.

Re: Can Linux really handle all genres of music?

IK Multimedia SampleTank via wine also works nearly perfectly (AVL-MXE). The "Product Manager" software does not work, but you can install the samples by downing zip files and using the installer.

Re: Carla, Jack, and AVL - build problem?

I'm trying to understand what problem you are having. I am also running Carla 2.3.2 in AVL-MXE. You are running Carla in Multiple clients mode I guess. I loaded a synth in Carla. I see that in the Patchbay tab there is a greyed-out keyboard at the bottom and it never becomes active even if I select ...

Re: Audient ID44 or best interface for Linux

Unfortunately what you say it true. No audio interface manufacturer provides drivers for linux that I'm aware of. However, USB-class compliant devices will work (since that is a documented standard and implemented in alsa), and some devices have been reverse engineered and thus have alsa drivers. If...

Re: Is it worth using nice or renice command with Jack aware applications ?

I think it is mainly important that Jack itself runs at high priority which can be set, for example, in QJackCtl, in Setup->Advanced tab. In general you can check your config with this script: https://github.com/raboof/realtimeconfigquickscan

Re: Issue with Bluetooth Mouse and scrolling after "wake-up"

I have a similar problem that my bluetooth mouse does not work at all after the computer wakes from sleep. Sometimes I stop/start bluetooth from the panel app and that fixes it, but sometime the panel app vanishes also. One thing that always works is to run the command as root (or sudo) "servic...

Re: pianoteq sales?

Yes they have occasional sales, e.g. at Black Friday or when they release a new piano model. However, usually their sales are discounts on upgrades, or discounts on buying a 2nd piano, if you pay full price on one. Its hard to get much discounts. It is relatively expensive, but high quality with goo...
