Re: Focusrite Scarlett 2i4, issues with JACK setup under Ubuntu

Do you have the first generation or second generation 2i4? I'm using the first-gen one and have had no such trouble. When you say "I lose sound from the PC", do you mean that you have speakers wired up to the audio out from the 2i4, and they cease playing back sound from the computer when ...

Either that or find a percussionist who will work with you.

Re: CMOS battery still OK?

I recently had a problem with my music machine not starting up. I tried a lot of different things to diagnose the problem and nothing seemed to work. Then my friend suggested replacing the battery and like magic the machine would turn on without protest. Given that you bought an older computer, if y...

Re: My first recording

That's really good for a first try! Don't worry about qjackctl. Jack has its purpose, but is not required even for multi-track recording. For noise reduction, you can use Noise Repellent . You may also want to investigate a more full-featured DAW instead of Audacity. Some popular choices are Ardour,...

Re: Max size soundfonts in LMMS?

Another question: I currently run an old Linux Mint version (see below). Would it make much difference to upgrade to a newer Linux Mint version? It would probably be fine to upgrade; the benefits would be the security updates and newer packages. Given how old your hardware is, I suggest trying the ...

Also take a look at x42's AVL drumkits plugins, great fun to be had with those.

Re: What do you want from a %100 free/libre SFZ sampler?

Release early and often and get other people involved in the development to minimize the project's " bus factor ". Clean, modular separation of concerns, such that other free software projects can reuse algorithms, or put on a different front end for different use cases (for example, diffe...

Re: Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 2nd Gen mixer driver

Hi all, I'm so sorry for the delay! I thought no-one was interested because I logged in LinuxMusicians occasionally and there was never a notification that someone had posted to the thread. Is there a better platform that we can do this on? I'm somewhat interested, as somebody who might decide to p...

Re: focusrite scarlett solo questions

Yes, you should be able to use your interface without pulseaudio, but it depends on what application you are using. Any audio production software should be able to use the hardware via Jack or ALSA, but "normal" apps like games or browsers or whatnot likely won't be able to play sound with...

Re: Dragonfly Hall Reverb

I wanted to also ask if the "spin" function is supposed to be subtle or more noticeable, since I have had trouble knowing if it does anything. With "wander" set low I can hear the reverb panning, and set higher it's harder to notice that aspect, so I figure I have some idea how ...

Michael, Do you think the graphics issue has anything to do with OpenGL that various people are using? ... (PS. it still works fine on my system, in Reaper, with my video adapter.) I'm glad it's still working for you. You might be right about some people experiencing problems due to their OpenGL ve...

Re: liftoff (instrumental metal)

I don't think your playing is too rough at all. I'm still very much working on figuring out good gain settings when recording guitar. There is some definite hiss going on in the lead section from 0:34-0:42. I think I may just have been a bit overkill on the overdrive there. Any suggestions? Try Nois...

Thank you very much for your answers... To both. I really apreciate this because makes me feel that I can count with this site to get help (and give some help... I have no idea how or when I would help but anyway...) Last time I tried make music with only OpenSource software was pretty frustrating....
