Re: First draft of a new one from me

I enjoyed listening. The second mix is definitely an improvement, but I still thought the lead was a bit prominent and could have been buried a little deeper in the mix.

Transfer Point: Prelude in C - Surf Rock version

Hey team, My cousin an I have completed a new recording, which is a surf rock adaptation of the Prelude in C from The Well Tempered Clavier, Book 1 (BWV 846) by Johann Sebastian Bach. I have mentioned my interest in surfin' Bach on this forum before (see here: https://linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.ph...

Re: Do any serious music enthusiasts use Linux?

I had been using Linux for 15 years and making music for 20+ years before I ever showed up on this forum, but I have learned a lot of music craft here. Probably I have learned more craft than I have software on this site, but I'm not sure. Whatever the ratio, I am grateful for the helpful people and...

Re: Bandshed Records - "The (not) Willie Mack album"

I really enjoyed listening as well. I have heard the majority of these tracks before, but they sound really good together. My favorite track is Confluence. It just has a fantastic vibe!

Congratulations on pushing this over the finish line.

Re: Epic Games Acquires Bandcamp

I dunno. They talk a pretty good talk about openness, and both companies have walked a pretty good walk. Epic Games went up against Apple about their closed app platform, and they won. BandCamp has been building its media empire (ok, maybe colony) by deliberately not fleecing musicians. And the arti...

Yeah, I get that. I react the same way to negative feedback. It helps a lot to wait a day or so before replying if you are feeling angry. I'm glad you're better.

And I'm especially glad that you didn't decide to leave the forum, because I want to hear more of your awesome music!

Re: Lars Domino och vänner - Efter snö kommer regn (Piano Cover)

Hey, nice work. I love the cross-pollination that happens on this forum. You rendered a fine performance, although I am also not a keyboardist so I'm easy to impress. :) And with that, I think I'm finally caught up on this subforum for the first time in months! But it was worth every effort to hear ...

Re: New video, more things learned...

Your workflow and setup have evolved quite a bit since you first came to the forum. I'm glad you are finding the tech and the tools you need to make your music, because your music is pretty cool. Also interesting to hear your voice. Something about the human voice -- it just connects and communicate...

Re: Let's dance (on four): some disco funk with romantic piano :)

Eh, some of it is your hardware synths, like that portamento sound I hear quite often in your tracks. But you also have a certain phrasing style that marks a piece as yours. And yes, please take it as a compliment. Beginners don't have a "sound" except for obvious incompetence. You are no ...

Re: Bloom

Nice track, Michael! And pass on a flower to Julie as well. We are getting close to mountain flower season around here, and I CAN'T WAIT! My favorite part of the song is that lovely little coda. Very nice touch on that. It reminds me of the little counterpoints that Dave Brubeck and Paul Desmond use...

Re: Remote Collaboration

I really like these compositions. These are songs to be proud of. The first track was perhaps the better of the two, or at least it was my favorite. I loved the hard-panned counterpoint banjos interspersed with a capella verses. A classic bluegrass style! The second one was also good. Like I said, I...

Re: Dishonorabe War: The Beginning

I have two friends who live in Kyiv. I am thinking of them constantly ... Was up late last night thinking about them, writing about them, and praying. Thank you for sharing this music. It is a very effective composition, although I agree that the production lacks a bit of punch. A subject like the u...
