Re: Please recommend a distro for me
I played around with lots of distros, and ended up sticking with linux mint. Seems the most stable for me.

Re: Starting Fresh
Thanks for the advice. Dream Studio brought my machine back from the land of the brick. Is Macpup the same as Puppy Linux? Also, is there a way to remove old kernels I will never attempt to use again? I play trombone, but I also noodle with guitars and keys. Most work I do with my machine is with re...

Now I just gotta get my pc to actually make a usb of av linux, and things should be good.

Starting Fresh
I recently installed cadence and some other things from the kdxstudio site. Today, my sound magically died. I think I done messed something up. HARD. I think it may be time to just bite the bullet and try an audio distro. I looked at tango studio, but I wasn't in love with it. I'm downloading av lin...

Re: SOS I need a ROCK SOLID distro!
In the past I used this trick to get rid of pulseaudio if and when jack was up and running. 1. Tell pulseaudio not to autospawn: echo "autospawn=no" > ~/.pulse/client.conf 2. Automatically kill pulseaudio before jack starts: qjackctl, setup, options, script at server startup: "pulsea...

Re: zynaddsubfx
Thank you for the link. I don't think it quite tells me what I'm looking for. Let me re-word my question. I'm looking to download other people's instruments they've made using Zynaddsubfx. I used to dabble with vst plugins, but I really don't feel like dealing with Wine, so I'm just not going to go ...

zynaddsubfx
Why does zynaddsubfx have such a horrible name?
Also, is there a resource for new instruments for zynaddsubfx?
Also, does anyone know of a nintendo synth plugin/patch for zynaddsubfx?
Also, does anyone know how to pronounce zynaddsubfx? Which syllable gets the emphasis?
Also, GET TO THE CHOPPA!

Re: Future of LinuxMusicians?
Not aimed specifically towards Windows users, http://wiki.linuxmusicians.com/doku.php?id=newbies might still be a reasonable start. It has a section and some links to more information on JACK Ok, for example, if you follow that link, there's a page about configuring your system. I think that page i...
