Re: Folder organization ideas?

Very interesting stuff. I've tried to use symlinks in the past for organization too, but they tend to break on me, I've researched why but I never get it. Sometimes a symlink via graphic file manager doesn't work, then I create it using ln -s and it does work, but next time I use it appears broken. ...

Re: Folder organization ideas?

Thank you so much for sharing. @Sysrqer, you blew my mind... In my first post I made a random list of possible way of organizing projects... But never in a million years I would have included organizing them by program! The possibilities keep coming and coming! I don't really get the advantage of or...

Re: Folder organization ideas?

Folder organization ideas?

My home recording folder has been a jungle for a long time, and I'm looking for some ideas and suggestions that I can steal for organization. The thing that flabbergasts me the most is the huge amount of variables in play, i.e. possibilities of organization. If you have a dubstep project and also a ...

Re: I recently switched my OS to ubuntu studio, trouble with DAWs

No! Not in general! Now that I think of it, I got directed to LinVST through Reaper's configuration for Linux wiki, and I've never tried it in other DAWs; I always assumed, as LinVST's documentation doesn't mention this or that DAW, that it would work in all of them, but alas, here I find there's e...

Re: I recently switched my OS to ubuntu studio, trouble with DAWs

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned LinVST. It's a converter that turns .dlls into .sos that you can use right away in Linux (no Carla needed). I use it in Ubuntu Studio and like 99% work perfectly after doing the conversion. My DAW is Reaper but I guess with Ardour it will be the same. https://githu...

Re: KX studio, LInux Mint, or Ubuntu Studio? Music Creation enviornment

I use Ubuntu Studio with Reaper, and it is very stable. I've also added the KX Studio repo so you can have that too. That said, my music is very simple plugin wise, so ymmv. Also, I've found that US is very "hostile" to tweaking. For example, things like changing the window manager and suc...

Re: new to linux but mind blown

Installing Reaper in Linux is quite easy once you know where's the information. Here is the download link: https://www.reaper.fm/download.php#linux_download You simply uncompress the file wherever you want it (you uncompress it with the command tar, if you're unfamiliar, the exact command is tar xf ...

Re: Help installing IO GNU/Linux to a pendrive

There is an app called Etcher that will do this Thank you... Yes, I tried Etcher already, but I get: 10.jpg I've checked the .iso's checksum (sha256) and it is correct, the file is not corrupt. Besides, from what I understand from IO's instructions, its system to make it bootable is a bit peculiar,...

Help installing IO GNU/Linux to a pendrive

I'm trying to install IO GNU/Linux to a pendrive, following these instructions: https://sourceforge.net/p/io-gnu-linux/wiki/USB%20install%20howto/ I was hoping a paint-by-numbers operation, but it turns out I'm finding a lot of unexpected behavior. This is the first time I try to create a Live USB, ...

Re: Good melody

Something that works for me is starting by singing unisons with the fundamental of each chord, or sticking to what the bass is doing, something simple like that... With time, being the creative person you are, you start to get bored, or distracted, or maybe you need to hammer down a long word that r...

Re: How do you add dynamic transitions and effects?

You can duplicate some track and add it an effect like distortion, flanger, some radical compression, or lower it one octave... and then you automate the volume of that track so that it doesn't sound in certain sections, but it "jumps" to you in others...

Thank you for this initiative. It was really refreshing this morning seeing a non-evil development going on in the world. I really needed some good news :D I'm curious about two two things: --What end user do you have in mind? Someone who wants to know "what's cooking" in open software, or...

Re: Best Linux Compatibility for small audio interface

I can also report good results with the Behringer UMC22, the smallest of them all; worked out of the box with no issues in Ubuntu Studio. Plug it in, type 2 parameters in qjackctl, and you're good to go... Previously, I had less luck with Komplete Audio 6, but it's probably because the seller (Thoma...

Re: Rated Blue "JOY" Album Released!

Congratulations, what an excellent album! My favorites so far are: My Brother John: epic, in the literal sense. I love the initial riff, it's like a war call, or a traditional ballad... and the way the riff comes back after the bridge is wonderful, I love the whole structure and the energy of the so...
