Wavetable Convolution?
Are you looking for an idea to code a cool LV2 plugin? I guess we are all familiar with wavetable synthesis - a concept where an oscillator has a list (or a table) of looping waveforms and allows the user to alter the sound by picking different table indexes at any given moment. Mainstream exampls a...

Re: 8 video tutorials and counting: unfa vlog
New video! I synthesize modern-sounding drums using ZynAddSubFX (and Ardour 5).

Re: How to make my system tell me if the phone is ringing?
Thanks! I had to tune my gate threshold, because me blowing my nose caused the phone alarm to set off :D But the IR and Gate for recognizing a sound is working pretty effective, I'm even surprised. I tried using an EQ approximation with 4 +20dB peak filters, highpass and lowpass - but that wasn't wo...

How to make my system tell me if the phone is ringing?
--- THEORY I use Linux Mint with KX Studio at work. Sometimes I don't hear the wired phone ringing right next to me. I taped old earbuds to the bottom of the phone chasis. I've connected this to the mic input of my PC and I have audio feed from there (in stereo!). I'll capture a phone ringing sample...

UV.jpg Note: this thread is a bit of a historical record - the newest stuff is on the bottom, so you might want to jump there :) Hey! After a long pause in recording videos I'm back with 7 new videos so far ranging in topics from synthesizing string pad in ZynAddSubFX to making sound effects for a ...

None of that is obvious when you're just starting out.

Re: A Spring Reverb plugin?
I know I can get great sounds with convolution reverbs, I used TAP Reverbator a bit, but I guess it has a lot of mysteries still to be discovered. I even recorded my own IR file of small spring reverb in a Peavey guitar combo. Why I'm asking for a spring reverb plugin is that convolution can only do...

Suddenly JACK is unable to use any soundcard
Hi! A couple of days ago I booted my laptop and wanted to play some music - I realised I can't get any sound out of it. A few days later I know this: ALSA works and can use my soundcards, aplay -l seems to detect them correctly, but when run JACK (using ALSA driver!) all three different audio interf...

Re: USB audio interface spontaneous sawtooth oscillator - help!
I've done lots of tests (using a spreadsheet also, yay!) since I last posted in this thread and I found out the sources of all the problems. 1. The random sawtooth solos are coming from the Behringer B-1 microphone - I bought this one used from a friend. Today I finally got the sawtooths again when ...

Re: USB audio interface spontaneous sawtooth oscillator - help!
Thank you, gimmepill! You gave me some great tips for troubleshooting, hopefully I can get the interface to work as it should or at least prove that it's damaged and get it replaces eventually. I've made a spreasheet to test and list all variables I can about these problems. I'm normally connecting ...

USB audio interface spontaneous sawtooth oscillator - help!
I got a new interface a few months ago: Behringer Uphoria UMC202HD It's a USB-powered class-compliant device with 2 inputs with JACK/XLR combo sockets and 24bit/192 kHz input fidelity. It also appears to feature a spontaneous sawtooth oscillator that likes to switch on and play atonal solos over my ...

A Spring Reverb plugin?
I tend to really like the weird sound of spring reverb. The signature of surf rock, as some say. One thing weirder than that is the fact that I haven't seen a single Spring Reverb Plugin in my life. All I see is Plate reverbs. As I assume, Plate being a 2-dimensional system is more complex to simula...

Carla: dividing big projects into scenes to increase performance
I'm not sure if such idea exists somewhere already, so I wanted to ask first before making an Issue in Carla's Github. The problem with making a Carla Project for a big gig is that you have so much plugins loaded and running at the same time that the normally sufficient hardware just can't deliver t...

Audio drivers broken in recent lowlatency kernel?
Around august 2016 I've got a Behringer UMC202HD inteface. Not long after I started using it, I've realised my laptop's Intel HD audio card seems to be broken: It's impossible to record audio from a microphone, and the headphone output works only if the connector is semi-unplugged. if I push the jac...
