Re: Standard test needed to benchmark XRUNs
cpu governor performance does not need to be the best solution. performance sets the cpu to the highest turbo-boost speed. Being turbo-boost, this is a clock speed that the cpu cannot hold for a longer time. I have tested which cpu-speed can be kept with my system for a longer time (using prime95 st...

Re: Standard test needed to benchmark XRUNs
Hi,
if the dsp load goes backwards this means (as far as I know) that the cpu changes its clock (goes higher), thus the dsp load (in percent) goes down even though the load in xruncounter goes up.
For xruncounter to make any sense you must ensure that your cpu runs at a fixed speed!

Re: QTractor: Export Channel strip
Hi, thank you, this helps (even though it is not exactly what I want). In this case, it's about guitar sounds which consist of a chain of plugins. Normally, one would use guitarix for that, but guitarix cannot be automated when used as an lv2-plugin (with a carla wrapper around). So I build my guita...

Re: Worse performance when power supply plugged in!
Thank you, too! I skipped through the article (I knew quite a bit of that before). In the article, there was a distinction between "guitarists" and "piano players". I am that in one person, and found it interesting that I still percieved latency much worse with guitar. So it is n...

QTractor: Export Channel strip
Hi,
is there a possibility to export a channel with all settings and plugins to another project in QTractor?
If, for instance, I created a nice guitar sound in one project and would like to use that in another project.
Thanks, Andreas

Re: setbfree as plugin in qtractor
I found out what happened (my mistake) : I had (in track properties) set a bank and a sound for setbfree. That was why everytime the track was loaded, this sound was set, no matter what settings I changed in setbfree. And that was why the problem did not occur in the minimal sample. Thank you for yo...

Re: setbfree as plugin in qtractor
Well, that is the way I usually add my plugins. Create a new track, go to the plugins-tab and then add my plugins. I found a workaround: If I change a setting, then de-activate the plugin and acitvate it again, the ok-button is no longer greyed out and the plugin state is saved when I hit ok (and sa...

Re: setbfree as plugin in qtractor
To clarify this: if I add the plugin, the given plugin-url is the one you gave here for the lv2 plugin.
But the plugin does have its own gui (the one that looks like a real organ).

Re: setbfree as plugin in qtractor
I am using the lv2-plugin.
QTractor version is 0.9.7.
If I, for instance, set percussion to "on", then the ok-button in qtractor plugins dialog is still greyed out. So it seems that qtractor does not notice that I have changed something in setbfree.
Thank you,
Andreas

Re: Worse performance when power supply plugged in!
I had a rehearsal last evening. This time I was there early and set up things and stuff. In the beginning, I had the occasional xrun. Later on, there weren't any more, even though I reduced the buffersize to 64 bit / 2 periods. So this confirms that not the power supply is the problem but loading th...

[unsolved again] setbfree as plugin in qtractor
Hi, I use setbfree as a plugin in qtractor. The problem: The settings are not stored. Whenever I restart qtractor setbfree is in a default-setting and I need to recall my preset manually. As there are lots of things to be set in setbfree, this is quite some problem. Does anyone know a trick or worka...

Re: Trying to get microphone audio levels right
Hi, there are combinations of microphones and mic-preamps that do not work well (low output mic combined with low amplification preamp). I did not find anything in the net if your mic is very low output or your card very low gain, but it might be. You can - try another mic - try another card (you mi...

Re: Standard test needed to benchmark XRUNs
As far as I have understood: The higher the buffer size, the less xruns. So if you can live with a high latency, why not use 288 bit buffer? I could not, as I use virtual instruments. Sudden very bad values could be because of pulse (I don't have pulse sink running, I can't say), but could be becaus...

Re: How to start with DrumGizmo
Hi, have you read some starting advice about jack and linux audio in general? I tried Drumgizmo once in QTractor. The steps were: - create a midi track - open plugins tab - add drumgizmo plugin - activate drumgizmo plugin - load drumset - load midi map This works fine. As I don't use ardour, I can o...

Re: Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 dead silent in Debian (no PA)
I second that, apart from the phantom-power-issure one should hear the input when direct-monitoring. It would have been interesting to know if it is possible to record something on windows. Being not able to do direct-monitoring, it might be that the inputs are faulty. I hope you can get yourself an...
